I like there music, but I wanted to know what every one else thought of them in Christian eyes, and how thre lyrics are according to Christian ears.

Well a lotta the lyrix i can relate to. And there's one song on their first cd that talks about religion, tradition, reputation getting in the way of experiencing God. That seems pretty Christian-like to me. Now, a lotta the lyrix i've been lookin at for the new cd i cant even understand so i wont get started on those lol.

As far as their music goes, I love it. My fav. song by them so far is August Winterman. It's one of my top fav. songs ever. So when their album hits stores soon, I'll be in line to grab it. :)

I love Dead Poetic. Their first album, at least. I haven't heard anything from their upcoming one.

I think with Dead Poetic, more than having 'Christian sounding' lyrics, they have real sounding lyrics. You know, songs that mirror your life or your emotions. Songs about real people - not super-Christians.

i first heard about this band from one of my friends, who said he was going to put them on his "i can't believe it's not secular" compilation cd. i listened to a few of their songs, and was impressed. i went to their website and, however, was not impressed by some of the comments they made. he talked to the bass player on the phone, and told him to keep their focus in the right direction. he keeps telling me that they are really good, but i don't want to support them by getting their cd. what do you guys think?

I think I have heard them and if I am right I thought they were pretty good.

i read an interview some guy did w/ the lead singer Brandon & the interviewer was trying to bring up some lude subjects & Brandon stood up i guess for what he believes in w/ the way he responded i was kinda impressed. i just hope that is who he really is & who the rest of the band really is. i LUV their music & lyrix tho.

I only have Dead Poetic's newest, "New Medicines". I haven't listened to their earlier stuff.
It's not bad. A little repetitive in the songwriting. I think it might be a little too overly produced. But the lyrics are pretty good. The title track has a great line-" these are the words that tore me apart/ these are the words that take me away/ 'new medicines should ease this pain/ their the only ailment for it'...."

From a Christian standpoint, you kind of have to look deeper than just on the surface. What Rach said. Real people screw up. It's inevetable. An artist should be allowed- encouraged- to sing about what they want to sing about. It often feels like Christian artists are pressured to always be praisy and happy. I think it ends up making a lot of those artists sound a little...shallow. Look at the Psalms- they weren't always happy. In fact, they can get pretty dark and brooding, like Psalm 88.

Does anyone know what the song "new medicines" means? I cant figure it out.

pretty much saying how the world has these temporary things to try to help ya cope but the real solution is to turn to God because his new medicines are better than the world's meds.

I've heard 2 new songs On Myspace, or Purevolume and there pretty good, But I haven't heard or seen to much buzz about this new cd, which Im looking forward 2, Just wondering if anyone has heard This cd yet or knows anything more about it, There going on Tour With Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Lorene Drive and Madina Lake, Promoting there new cd, And thats pretty much all I know, I guess the cd is saposed 2 be heavier than the last which is pretty sweet.

Their new cd doesn't come out until Halloween. So... I doubt anyone has heard it yet. I've heard the songs on myspace, I didn't care for them much.

I've known about it for months. I just now listened to what they've got on purevolume, and I gotta say: nothing like their old stuff. But, I also gotta say, I really like it.

Great album, somewhat experimental and great! but does anyone know what they are doing now? they had a big tour lined up wiht Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Dead Poetic backed out, and they backed out of a couple more tours. why? thier CD did fine. i know their drummer is doing some solo stuff, but that wouldnt be a reason to stop touring.
