...also known as Advanced Placement exams. is anyone here taking any/have taken any already? urg. i've got a US History one on Friday, and i've been making my mind absorb so much it's like an oversoaked sponge the size of Montana. it's like The Ramones song is *so* my anthem right now; "...i wanna be sedated..."
so maybe it's not *totally* as bad as i'm making it sound -- like a mountain of drudgery in which one has to drag one concrete-laden foot after the other through -- but still, it's seeming like one mondo punk of a test. what are your guys' thoughts?
i know/feel confident that/am praying that i can do really well on the essay section -- but i have the imminent cloud of chaos hanging over my thoughts when it comes to the blasted multiple choice section. any hints?
heh...okay...so this could *seem* like it's merely an extended portion of the daily rant, but, it's specific. anyone got any comments, suggestions, randomness...shoot it out. i'm here to listen.
peace, yo. ~ Nina

like i said...the inner ring of the inferno... ;)
but much thanks, amigo, for the well-wishings; it's appreciated greatly.
i believe i took English, Calculus AB, and US History in high school. I guess the thing i remember most is that our history teacher was preparing us for the exam from the first few weeks of class - she immediately introduced us to DBQ's... I can't possibly tell you how many of those we wrote throughout the year from previous years' exams and what-not. Although, we were all much more comfortable about it on test day. Because of the college I was going to, none of them were high enough to get any credit. :-\
I remember taking AP Calculus and Biology exams. Neither were fun and they weren't a cake walk... but they weren't outlandishly tough. I was able to get a score of 3 (and thereby receiving college credit) for both, so I was pleased.
Good luck with them. Personally, they're just tests. I know some people who obsess over these things when really, there isn't much you can do study-wise for them. The class in itself is the exposure you need.

the attitude of the whole thing isn't what gets me, nor is it the essays, really... i just suck majorly at the multiple choice. i got 38% on the 80 question one first time around, second time (correcting wrong answers) i got 63% i think, and the thing that sucked is when i took the time to *really* look at the questions, the ones i thought, "hm, that sounds good, but i don't think..." the ones i thought were good were the answers. grr.
i'm gonna pore over my book. so if something looks right, it probably is.
...although that's kind of a crappy strategy. but i've got nothing else.

Eh, it works to a certain degree. I got a 4 on calc, saved me from a math class this year. Deffinantly worth the attempt.

What? I'm good at math even though I hate it. And thats nothing, I know a lot of people who got 5s. I hate them.

for the love of mike, that's insane. a 5? jeez.
haha...yes. for the love of you =P i just realized what i said. smartXcore.
urg...i despise math like they teach in the math classes, tho. i love my accounting class and i'm acing that, and i dig the applied math i get credit for in my construction class, but nooooo they do stupid math in 'regular' math classes. grrr.

it's not really a matter of colleges needing them; but some colleges won't accept them. AP = Advanced Placement. some schools don't have them. you take an AP class, and towards the end of the year, you have the opportunity to take the AP exam. if you pass it with a 3 or higher (it's out of 5) you might be eligible (depending on the college) to be exempt from taking some classes. for example, if i pass this AP US History exam with a 4, and i want to go to Valparaiso University (Indiana), then i wouldn't have to take HIST 220 and 221. not bad, 2 college classes i wouldn't have to pay for.
so, now it's just praying i at least get a 3 so i can get a good grade in my class, and it'd look good on the college app.
yep *nods* for sure.

i took the AP Micro Econ exam. it wasn't as bad as i thought i'd be. the Macro was horrible tho. :P the best part of it all is that i don't have to take Econ in college! :D that class was so horrible & the teachers at my college aren't that great, so by getting it done with in high school with a great teacher, i scored big time. :D

so i survived at least ;P and y'know, i didn't feel too bad about it. the multiple choice, well, i'll hope for the best; it's 50% of the grade. the essays i feel i did pretty well on; that's my strong point. 9 pages of writing, tho -- oi. but not bad i think...won't know til July, but still *nods* s'all good. thanks for all prayers, positive thoughts and well-wishes.

Ah, good stuff. I just stopped in at my old high school and chatted with my calc teacher. He was looking over the free responce section of the AP tests. Poor man, he has been very frustrated with this class.

oi. i can imagine. a friend of mine who took the Calc. test two days ago, and he's really good at that stuff usually, said that one of the guys in the class came up to him and said that he bet that he'd get a 2, everyone else would get a 1.
i'm not even thinkin' about it til July :P
