Which are better? Cats or Dogs?

IMO, I think dogs are the better pet, because, depending on its breed and how well its trained, they can be loyal and protective.

For example, a old lady did not reliaze that there would be a earthquake. Her cat noticed it because they can hear real well, and it ran away. The dog noticed it too and it stayed with the lady and went ballistic trying to let her know what would happen and he lead her to safety.
Also, a truck driver brought his dog on a trip and he pulled off to the truck station for some rest. About 3 hours later, his dog suddenly heard something and woke his master up. His master got ticked off and went back to sleep, however the dog insisted that he takes him out. Finally he went out. They both go back inside to fall asleep and then the dog went crazy again, this time the master goes outside himself, but there were thugs outside. He fought but he was out numbered three to one. The dog, realizing that something was wrong, leaped out the window of the semi and tackled one of the thugs and went after the 2nd one.

Whats your oppinion?

dogs.. I had both cats and dogs in my life. And I found dogs are better b.c they show their emotions better. But.. it does depend on how well they're trained.. its no fun getting a dog that is untrained. But my little one is untrained and she's ok when company comes but can be/get emberssesing.

dogs are probaly a definate, cats want stuff, dogs are there for you, if they talked theyed say "what can I do for you", and you know they say it when they come up to you and stick there tung out and look up at you with there big eyes, and thats what they say, and cats, they come up to you, and all they want is to be pet'd, they want want want, lol.

Cats. They fit my personality.

birds. no competition.

my cat is the best of both worlds. he's friendly, follows us around, jumps in our lap, etc. and yet, he has his moments when he wants to be left alone. which works out perfect when we leave the house for hours on end, he can take care of himself and we don't have to worry about him.

and...i've never had a dog.

I guess you can tell by my avitar that i am a dog person...his name is Muzzy and he's spoiled rotten....he's just a mutt....Lab-terrier mix but he's a good dog.

I often say that he's is not worth ten dollars but i wouldnt take thousand dollars for him :)

awww... cute dog! I think all dogs are cut unless they dont have fur.. they have to have fur!

hehe.... i like both. our cats (which we no longer have because one of the dogs scared them away and now they've probably been eaten by something :'( ) were always super-friendly, and our dogs, well, one of them is just stupid, but he's cute, and the other one is really sweet and gentle..... (the one that scared the cats away :D )

cats i have to say, are the best. at least my cat in IMO. she is really sweet and follows me and she doesnt need constant attention and care, she can do stuff on her own as well, which is why she is cool. plus, she isnt the kind of cat that makes you wonder why you still feed it, she is really friendly and like people.

Dog, cats shed too much... also Cats dont like me, just because I used to chhase them with a pointy stick... aka a metal rod... :D

You gotta love a dumb dog... they show so much love towards ya... my Dog was so awesome... cept when he'd wake me up by walking on me... I want a doggy now... mines been dead for 2 years

Cats 100%. I did own a huge Rottwieler a couple years back, but I'm much more of a cat person. My cat, Theodore, was a skinny little stray kitten that my mother found at our old apartments nine years ago. Being the extreme animal lover that she is, she scooped him up and took him home. He's been my cat ever since. He's fat, happy, and employed in the family as a gopher exterminator and lap-warmer. =]

cats times about one and a half million. My dog is to stupid.

well I'm getting my daughter a kitten today. she's been begging for a cat or dog but we don't have our yard fenced yet. Since she's been having such a horrible time with the new school I just want to do something to make her happy and feel special. She's gonna flip, she has no idea about it and I'm gonna go pick it up while she's at school and have it in the van with me when I pick her up from school. Also the fact that there was a mouse in the house last night was the clencher.

I'll tell you there's just nothing worse than seeing your kids hurting. When they twist thier ankle you can say "you'll get better it'll take a couple of weeks". But when they are emotionaly hurt all you can do is love them, pray, and do whatever you can to bring a little happiness to them. And my poor girl is going thru both. You can get a little bit of a sense of how God feels about us. When your child is hurting you just want to take all that pain away. Like Jesus taking on the sin of the world, he wanted to do it, he went willingly.

Ok now I'm way off topic. Next year after the fence is built were gonna get a dog. Something medium sized, large is to big for the little one. And something sturdy that can handle rough play... maybe a beagle... any suggestions?

and btw, she loves the kitten. She had tears in her eyes when she picked it up and held it.. she was and is very happy..

and i'd say a beagle would be really good, if you have a big yard. my friend has a beagle, and she's such a sweetie.

yeah we have a corner lot so we have a good sized yard. but it'll cost a good sized check to fence it. Gonna have to rent a post hole digger. I wouldn't even attempt to dig all the holes myself.

I'm going to get a German Shepard after I get out of Air Force BMT & tech. traing for the security forces. Most of the time the Air Force will give you a police dog, but I want to get one for my self...

I think cats are how demons live in this world. I have not met a cat yet that hasn't sctratched/bitten/hissed/mauled me in any way. Except one, but this one thought it was a dog. It fetched sticks and buried things and drank out of the toilet. Coolest cat EVAAR!

i have a german shepherd and my sis has one too... they rocketh! big and medium sized dogs rule... but for little dogs, i do like yorkies but thats about it. you can do alot more with a big dog... i can take my dog on a 5 mile bike ride... you cant do that with a lil dog...

yep, on my dad's 64 1/2 red mustang some city cats decided one night to sleep on it...torture it was pretty bad. So I shall forever hold a grudge aginst cats. *evil glare*

They don't let us have pets where I am now, but that's going to change as soon as I leave here. Pets are wonderful, and they would do anything to protect you. What really makes them love you is feeding them treats and all.

dogs are better by far, but then i used to 'play' with all our cats when i was younger and one of 'em gave me a nasty scar, still plainly visible, :evil: luckily there's a lot of traffic by my house so they're all dead, or run away.

Cats don't require as much work. :) That's a plus.

that's for sure, in summer we didn't even feed ours. They all left. :P of course, that's what we wanted b/c they were only there to catch mice.

Hmmm...I can't pick between cats and dogs. That's like asking which flavor of ice cream I like better; chocolate or vanilla. ;D

My personal favorite are dogs (I <3 my rat terrier), but cats are nice sometimes as well...preticularly when they're in a mood to snuggle. But dogs are just so loyal and interactive. ^_^

i think it depends on how much work you want to do for the animal. if you want less work then get a cat but if you want a loyal animal that will interact with you then get a dog. also you can leave cats by themselves and go on vacation if you have a dog you have to bring them everywhere.

Agreed...Most definitely! :)

Cats are just very special creatures to me. They bring back fond memories of childhood...(There's just nothing better than sitting by a warm fire while drops of rain softly tap the roof, with a purring cat curled up on your lap.) Cats are just amazing (and underestimated) animals. People don't like cats as much because they're not as "dependable", and they're more independent and unpredictable; thus making them hard to understand. But it is the mystery of a cat that I love.

They are loyal in their own way; you just have to learn to speak their language.

First off no they dont have a soul...thats why we can take them for food without it being murder(despite what PETA says).

Second....all signs point to yes...there will be animals in heaven...in Revelations after the battle of Armageddon,Christ will return to earth with the saints on white horses...and last time I checked horses were animals ;) and in the New Jeruslem during the Millennium the bible says that the lion will lay down with the lamb so I believe that God will have a role for animals...after all when he created them he said that they were good...prolly a lot of ppl will disagree with my view but i think the bible backs my opinion

call me crazy but i so want a rottie or a pit bull! my uncle has a rottie and i love her.i saw a pit bull x the other day and the animal shelter(droping off a taged bird that my mom was worried might not be a good idea to let die in our yard...)and i really wanted to take her home but they said no cuz i have sibs under 12 and of course my dad said 1 dog and 7 cats(our cat had kittens)is more than enough :-\

If I get a dog (when I'm living on my own and such), I want a big dog! My family has two golden retreivers that we've had since they were puppies, and they are the sweetest dogs ever! I wish I was at home right now so I could hug them! ;D

yes! big dogs like labs, shepherds, retreivers, and rots are the best... cats are cool too, but DOGS ROCK!!! you can do sooooo much more with them!!

big dogs are fun, but you can snuggle with little dogs. maybe get one larger dog like a retreiver and then a smaller dog like a dachshund.

yeah, mostely...its just all the cats that we have had are really stupid and mean and all the dogs that we have had are really sweet...i don't know i've just always liked dogs better!
