I wanna know everyones strangest, weirdest, most bizarre habits, hobbies, or quirks. For example, I shudder at the thought of throwing away a microwave buttered popcorn bag before cutting it into 1 inch strips from top to bottom, then cutting those strips in half twice, and euphorically licking the salty butter off of each and every strip. I swear they must have put some sort of narcotic in that butter. It is highly addictive stuff. MMmmm :lick:
I also hate to sleep without a fan or some kind of air sound going in the background. However, I have not been able to do this recently in order to reduce the electric bill.:(
Oh yeah, and during the day I drive with one hand while holding some sort of folder, or thick peace of paper in the other hand to block the sun from hitting my face. If the sun hits my skin for like 3 minutes, the rest of the day I will look like someone had slapped me. Yeah, if you've seen my pix, this is why I am a ghost.8)

hmmmm....wot makes me a fruitcake...hmmm...where to start! lets see there's my unhealthy obsession with chocy first of all.....i seriously can't go a day with some type of chocy....then there's my hyperness (is that a word? well who cares) i always smile ;D i dunno its just my mouth doesnt seem to be able to do anything but smile, but i like it that way (smiling uses less muscles anyways :P)...ummm...i love gum....at least half a packet eaten at once so i can blow huge bubbles just so it sticks all over my face, then i have the fun of trying to pick it all off ::] i also HAVE to wear something pink....i just don't feel myself if i'm not wearing my pink shoes or my pink bracelets or some other piece of clothing that is pink. As you can probly tell by this post i talk alot to...something i never really thot i did much, but ppl keep telling me i do....think its something to do with my big family i don't like silence much so i try to fill it in with me talking or making slapping, popping, clicking noises with my chewing gum ;D lets see there's more....but hey i'll give someone else a chance and post some more later :)
*hugs*

I'm a coffee addict, it's almost all I drink. I can't live with out popcorn, chocy, poptarts, McD's freach fies, or wontons. I too, like to lick the butter out of popcorn bags. :) I always tap my foot, and play music. I must always pop my fingers, neck, and back. And I tend to start saying random things, with no reason what so ever. More to come.
disciple
07-27-2004, 10:40 AM
Oddly enough I lick the butter off too... mmm :lick:
I also occasionally mimic some old dance moves when I listen to good grooves. I also rhyme occasionally ;)
I never go a day without figiting. I always tap my fingers, scratch my fingers, my head, my wrists & arms, and I also tap and move any one of my limbs at any given time. :P
I used to just HAVE to get the dishes done, my weirdest habit of all, but seeing how I just finished two weeks of semi-torture, I'll have to wait some time before doing dishes again.
I don't like being barefoot a lot either. I like to walk around barefoot sometimes, but most ofthe time I am wearing socks or shoes.
Another habit: looking at my watch for answers. Do not try to understand this habit; whether it's time-telling or looking at my watch to figure out what street I'm on, I can't go without looking at it like I expect it to answer me. I even look at it when I want to know when I'll get done with something or when I wanna know what someone is thinking or something like that. Weird, huh? :P
I, too, like to talk a lot. Silence is golden but there must be a comfortable noise going on or else the whining noise in my head comes and it doesn't stop until a noise comes. The noise hurts, but hey, when isn't there a noise in my house? :D

I just can't not switch between them. It really freaks people out when I change my avatar more than once a day! :D

This is a hard question...everything about me is quirky in one fashion or another. Perhaps I even border on obsessive compulsive in some instances. I'll have to come back to this thread after thinking about it for quite some time.
As for some that i can think of off the top of my head:
I wear velvet capes for the heck of it.
I love to scare people and get obscure reactions from people. I like sitting in bushes.
I put banana peels on my forehead for potassium when I have a minor headache. (Try it- it works! Plus the texture of the banana paste has a soothing effect)
I think blood is pretty.
My life is a musical- I sing at the most random intervals.
I laugh when it is a completely inopportune moment to laugh. Especially when nothing is funny.
I always carry guitar plectrums. You never know when I will encounter a guitar.

I must have diet Dr. Pepper all the time. I CAN live without it but I will NOT be very happy.>:(
I too, am always beating on things (as though they were bongo drums actually) whether it be my lap, the arm of whatever I am sitting in, or my totally awesome 9-year-old son Shane's head. We enjoy head-banging and rocking our faces off together. I tap my feet all the time, too. Perhaps I should by some drums.8)
I like to scare people as well. And I also like to be frightened even more. Actually…astonished is prolly a better word. Dunno…just does something to me. I will stop right there with that topic. LOL!
Plus, I LOL a lot. LOL! See. LOL! And ROLF. But I have to type it with spaces in between the letters to make it look big. Cuz a ROLF is big and it needs to look big. R O L F ! Kinda like how the word giggle actually looks like a giggle. That being the reason I use it often as well. *giggles*
And yes, blood is pretty….for a plethora of reasons. Just a few are that issa perrrdy color and it also carries life (God said that life is in the blood). That in it’ self makes it sublime. And, of course, there’s the fact that nothing else is able to make atonement for our sins and wash us clean other than the Blood of Jesus.;)

Here's one that can make everyone on the face of the planet believe I am either psychotic or mentally unstable.
I like to listen to depressing music. Not just because of the sound, because I like the emotion and the placidity (is that even a word?) it gives me. That's not all.
I like Linkin Park's "Krwling" for this reason. When I hear it images of all types of extreme pain pop into my mind, and that is why I like the song. I see people mourning over the death of their loved one, over dying a most painful death, etc. Yes, everyone must be either looking at the screen funny like they read it wrong or they are with their mouths agape.
When I hear Zao's "Violet" I today imagined having a lovely wife for years and then she suddenly dies by the hand of some monsterous person/monster. You all must think I am crazy right now if I enjoy listening to music for this reason :D
But don't worry, I just encorporate it into my writing. :)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, I love eerie/dark music. Lyrics that are just completely honest and truthful. There's beauty in that. I like listening to goth bands and some metal bands for that very reason.

I don't like it too dark, though (i.e., violent, angry, etc.), I like is eerie or like Krwling and Violet is (that is, instrumental with some eerie Sound Effects in the background either with deeply sad lyrics or no lyrics at all) But I am glad I am not alone... I like Linkin Park's "Krwling" for this reason. When I hear it images of all types of extreme pain pop into my mind, and that is why I like the song.:)Actually, A. D., you are prolly just a little more "Goth" that you realize. The “sublime” pleasure you experience from the emotions you feel while listening to these songs is one of the key fetishes that most Goths crave. Plus, you are releasing the energy that emerges from you in a creative way by writing, which is healthy. Releasing emotion artistically is another major activity that many Gothic practice.
Sadness and fear are God given emotions that can be experienced in a good way if done in a healthy manner. Not a whole lot of people even want to begin to understand this type ecstasy for fear of feeling like a psychopath… or even looking like one. In my personal opinion, if you think about it, Jesus Himself was, in a sense, “Gothic,” as well.
Perhaps you should consider exploring Gothic art a bit more. I think you might find loads more satisfaction in realizing that it’s not just you who feels that way.
Yer not psycho...yer juss kewl...like me. LOL!
Another reason I am a fruitcake, many of you already know, is cuz I don’t sleep. Not unless my body forces me to. But hopefully this unhealthy habit will eventually pass. And I have intense arachnophobia. If I see a spider, I have cold chills for like 5 minutes. I can’t even look at or touch a picture of one without freaking out.

Be careful about who you say that to, K.
Yeah, like you, GRRRR! ;)
Yes, that is just the craziest habit, and I too hope it'll pass. I worry a lot.

Jesus Himself was, in a sense, “Gothic,” as well
This is very true. Isaiah 53:3 "He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not." Not trying to add to the stereotype that goths are always downtrodden or anything. Because it just isn't true. However, Jesus presented a lot of radical ideas...completely stood out and didn't care what others thought about him when he sat with the sinners.

YGO Isn't that bad... until it became popular, that is. Once stuff like that becomes popular I stop spending money on their stuff (for YGO it'd be cards (even though I have none I am making a point) and for PKMN it'd be video games. I stopped after Gold & Silver, even though I wanted Crystal, and maybe the GBA ones.)
You know we're all fruitcakes to some degree... we all have individual opinions, different in some ways, and ys, this was me making a point that I am rather fruity for trying to make something serious out of something silly, another fruitcake quality of mine

Oh I have plenty things to make me a fruitcake. Let's see...
I always put plastic baggies over my cups, glasses, etc, because a fly (or perhaps some other small creature) will get into it (which does happen if I don't.)
I too always have to be wearing socks or shoes, or something on my feet...I don't like going barefoot. But that's only because I don't like the texture or feeling of the floor/ground/whatever on my feet, and I HATE feeling dirty.
I hear these "voices" in my head, if you will. (No, I'm not kidding on this one, it actually happens.) They aren't actually "voices" though, because they aren't out loud...It is extremely hard to explain. They're sort of like a distant echo, something in my head...I can't explain it...It isn't a thought, though. They usually sound like bits and pieces of people's conversations, or some incoherent, rambling, nonsensical sentences or phrases. For example (and these are some that I've actually heard):
"...sleeping in a raincoat."
"...a male dancing pig..."
"pantyhose!"
"...He was brown-jacketed. Yeah, he was brown-jacketed."
"We're Russian and we're coming for you."
etc, etc. A lot of the time it's someone calling my name, often times out loud. There are plenty more of these, but I can't remember any right now.
Really bizarre thoughts always pop into my head at strange times, e.g. a flying moose gallantly bounding from cloud to cloud with Garfield riding on his back through a polka-dot sky. Or a dwarf or something doing summersaults in front of me, or a cat with a top hat tapdancing on my desk, etc, etc. Usually these things pop in my head at the most inopportune time, i.e. in the middle of class, sitting at the table eating dinner, etc. It's extremely hard not to burst out laughing. (I don't think of these things at will, trust me lol.) Or if someone says to someone else, for example. "You pig!" I can't help but imagining them, literally, as a pig, snorting obnoxiously at people. This, also, makes it hard to refrain from laughing.
I have a phobia of anyone who looks like me remotely, if even barely at all, or if I think they look like me. Then I think that they know that I look like them, and they know that I know they look like them, and they know that I know that they know I look like them and that because of this they think I am repulsive.
I am fascinated with Superman
I talk to myself, make comments, then answer to them, etc, and enjoy it. (Though this one isn't all that weird.)
I have a thing for tall, dark, mysterious guys. Especially guys who are considered "different" or "strange", eccentric, and maybe crazy. (I don't know why. I suppose this one isn't all that weird either.)
I don't feel like listing any more now, but I might later.

I always wear camouflage, pants wallet, vest, wristband.. not shirts though I don't like shirts and hats.. well, after you and your family getting bashed up pretty good in a car accident, i wouldn't really consider that completely irrational... :-\
I talk to myself, make comments, then answer to them, etc, and enjoy it. (Though this one isn't all that weird.)
i do that too... i think out loud quite frequently... and then people ask me what i was saying, and i have to explain that i was just talking to myself. ::]
I too always have to be wearing socks or shoes, or something on my feet...I don't like going barefoot. But that's only because I don't like the texture or feeling of the floor/ground/whatever on my feet, and I HATE feeling dirty.

I hear "voices" all the time. They aren't after concerts though. They're usually ridiculing or angry voices telling me things that I don't want to hear. Reminders of my past, things that they think I should do, etc. I've written a song about it before, but those voices usually now come in the form of dreams and stuff, and that's why I argue out-loud with myself. This is a strange one. Occasionally I am prompted to close my eyes. When this happens I usually see a scene of some sort that will go on for maybe 5 minutes at the most. It's really bizarre because I am wide awake when this happens and it's as though I were watching these things on a television. Then I write down what I saw. Dunno if that's what a vision is or not. And I can only tell this to strange people like me. Normal people look at me like I've lost my mind.
I too, hear bits and pieces of audible voices. Sometimes it's scary. That's why I like to sleep with a fan or air sound in the background. It helps to drown out the words.
I also like to tame white wolves and name them CJ. And I enjoy picking up neat things that people just drop on the ground in the land of Brit, even if it's not worth anything. Sometimes I find really kewl armor, potions, and weapons.;D

OMG! I know that these animals are meant for food but that is just out of control. I know God must have instructed man to raise cattle, and such, in a more humane and sanitary manner. That's just filthy and disgusting. I am not a vegetarian, nor do I plan to become one, but I truly believe that I am not going to be consuming as much meat as I used to.

Just keep in mind that the "Meet Your Meat" video was presented in a very biased manner. Watch the video again and take mental note of all the weaknesses present. It may come across as some truth-revealing muckracker shedding light into a situation, however also note that it was all speculation. The only alleged "proof" they received was the video footage. They obtained no quotes or statistical information. So the only primary source would be the footage, of which can be edited to their preconceived bias. Yet another thing to take into consideration would be...have you ever seen those commercials of starving children in Africa...how they took footage of the most sickly looking children around, making it seem as though all the children in Africa look as though they are suffering from malnutrition? It is my *opinion* that perhaps the same sort of media-like deal is going on with this video. Especially since it is trying to support Vegetarianism.
Just a thought. :)

1. I like hanging with intellectual equals, but when I do I feel like a little child. A problem, as I don't like feeling so small and stupid.
2. I can't hang out with people who are more attractive than me (which is more than half the human flippin' race) because it makes me feel SO UGLY...

2. I drive 25 minutes to the nearest arcade at like 10:30 at night on the weekends to play DDR...sad, I know...
3. I spend HOURS in Books A Million or Barnes and Noble reading manga...
4. I am extremely vain, yet I have serious self-image issues (BESIDES the fact that I am vain).

In regards to: Pop-Bags
Attention: You May Be Addicted Too!
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Kathy Jo Bryan. I am 26 years old. I have been addicted to licking the buttery salt off of the inside of microwave popcorn bags since I was about 12 years old (that’s about 14 years). The way I’ve done this is by taking the popcorn bag, after it’s empty, and cutting it into strips about 1 inch thick from top to bottom. Then I cut those strips in half twice. This process made licking and sucking the buttery salt off of the paper much easier and less messy.
Not many people are aware of how addictive the popcorn bag can be. It has not been proven yet, but it is suspected that there may be some sort of addictive narcotic found in the substance that remains on the inside of these bags. I will make sure that everyone is informed as soon as this assumption has been validated.
Well, to address my current condition, I have attempted to get help for my popcorn bag issue for quite some time now. I did alright with controlling myself for a while. Unfortunately, I have recently fallen off the wagon. I have tried reaching out for help but it just seems as though my friends are merely repulsed by me. *Sniffs* Now, sad to say, I am currently into an even harder form of pop-bag licking. I have recently been stealing the extra fine salt from McDonald's and sprinkling about 4 to 5 packets of this in the bag (otherwise known as a laced pop-bag). Here forth I will refer to these forms of pop-bag as MPB (Microwave Popcorn Bag), or LPB (Laced Popcorn Bag).
I know that I am not the only one who struggles with this problem. So if you feel that you are battling the same addiction but did not know that there are others who do as well, I encourage you to post your comments, concerns, or questions. Also, if you are a recovered MPB addict and have good advice for those of us who are still struggling, please share your success and wisdom with us. We are here for each other. There is help. We can get through this together. *sniffs*
Best wishes,
Kathy Jo Bryan
