So I was thinking of stuff from when I was a kid... you know. Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbrow Brite, Record LP's, My Little Pony, The Elephant Show, Henrietta Hippo, Care Bears.. ahh the list goes on and on.

(You know alot of this stuff is making a comeback.)

So yeah I figured that I'd make a thread where other people can talk about what they remember and stuff, you know.. reminisce. I don't think that there is another thread like this.. sorry if there is.

So anyone one else remember this stuff? Or stuff from when you were a kid that make you go 'aww', lol. ;D

Uhmm. I have a horrible memory. I remember the old Spiderman and X-men shows a little. But then again, I think they still have those same episodes on Fox kids on Saturday morning, so I guess that doesn't count. Unfortunately I still can't shake off the memory of Barney and the "I luv you, you luv me" song. *shivers*

Speaking of Paula.. I remember coming home from school one day and my mom was watching Mtv.. it was my introduction to the channel. I remember the very first music video I saw was Paula's Cold Hearted Snake. The entire time I think I probably looked like: :o

found the e-mail, here it is. i happen to identify w/ a lotta these (but not all of them;D) enjoy.

You're an '80s child if...

Snap bracelets were always getting you in trouble at school.
-----------------------------------------------------
Friendship bracelets were ties that couldn't be broken. Friendship necklaces (the kind that you bought two of, one saying "best" and the other "friends") were the most important bond between two lifelong ends
--------------------------------------------------------------
You've ever read Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, The Babysitters Club or Sweet Valley High.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You know all the words to "Ice Ice Baby".
-----------------------------------------------------------
You wanted to be The Hulk for Halloween.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You had a crush on one of the New Kids on the Block members.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You remember the New Kids On The Block.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You wanted to be on Star Search
-----------------------------------------------------------
You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before he had plastic surgery, and you can sing along to at least 5 of his songs
-----------------------------------------------------------
Heaven forbid you wore one of those t-shirt rings or a scrunchi on one side of your shirt during your youth.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You were styling with your french rolled pants.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You wore multiple pairs of socks in the middle of the summer just so you could be "hip"
-----------------------------------------------------------
You had puff painted your own shirt at least once.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You owned a doll with 'Xavier Roberts' signed on it's butt. Cabbage Patch Kids!
-----------------------------------------------------------
You knew what Willis was "talkin' 'bout."
-----------------------------------------------------------
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off"
-----------------------------------------------------------
You were upset when She-ra, Princess of Power, and He-Man cancelled.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You can remember watching Full House and Saved by the Bell for endless hours, back when they were new episodes.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You have seen at least 10 episodes of Fraggle Rock.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You hold a special place in your heart for "Back to the Future."
-----------------------------------------------------------
You know where to go if you "wanna go where everybody knows your name."
-----------------------------------------------------------
You wanted to be a Goonie.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You knew "The Artist" when he was humbly called "Prince."
-----------------------------------------------------------
You even wore flourescent-neon clothing...
-----------------------------------------------------------
You could breakdance, or wished you could.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game system.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You can remember M.C. Hammer
-----------------------------------------------------------
You can still sing the rap to "Fresh Prince of Bel Air".
-----------------------------------------------------------
How many of you can recite the theme to Duck tales?
-----------------------------------------------------------
You own any cassettes.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You owned a pair of L.A. Gear, Keds, or Converse tennis shoes.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You carried your lunch to school in a Gremlins or an ET lunchbox.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf. (And how come Baby Smurf never grew up...)
-----------------------------------------------------------
My Little Pony, Gummy Bears, Transformers, You can't do that on Telivision, Noozles, KIDS incorperated, Captian Kangroo, Double Dare, and Hey Dude are familiar to you.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You ever had a Swatch Watch or a Doonie and Burke
-----------------------------------------------------------
You actually spent countless hours trying to perfect the "Care Bear stare".
-----------------------------------------------------------
You had Wonder Woman or Superman
-----------------------------------------------------------
You thought that Transformers were more than meets the eye.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You spent hours in the basement building and re-building Lego cities.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Do Polly Pockets or Popples ring a bell?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Big wheels and bicycles with streamers were the way to go.
-----------------------------------------------------------
With your playschool record player you sang back up to Debbie Gibson.
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Party like it's 1999" seemed SO far away!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
You stayed up all night listening to Teddy Rupskin
-----------------------------------------------------------
Can we say Trapper Keeper?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Can you tell you how to get to Sesame Street?
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you wanted to be on the GLADIATORS!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you still have a crimper in your bathroom drawer
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you remember singing Amy Grants "Baby, Baby"
-----------------------------------------------------------
You owned an indiana jones hat
-----------------------------------------------------------
You had more than one Star Wars action figure
-----------------------------------------------------------
You loved your pink jeans, black stretch pants and big loop earings
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you wanted to pick a lock with a toothbrush just like MacGyver
-----------------------------------------------------------
You wanted to travel through time on Quantum Leap
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you remember when rollerblades were the new thing
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you learned how to spell mouse from the Mickey Mouse club theme song.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You felt like a big girl when your mom bought you GIRL TALK
-----------------------------------------------------------
You used to wear bright pink slip-ons and jelly shoes
-----------------------------------------------------------
You used to compare your little brother to Ferguson
-----------------------------------------------------------
You were scared of the Gremlins
-----------------------------------------------------------
You remember when Ren and Stimpy was a new show
-----------------------------------------------------------
When MTV was all about Rock Hard videos and BIG hair (first aired in 1981!!!)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pee Wee's Play House...Rainbow Brite...Fanny Packs
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you can remember when you're "Kid Sister, Kid Sister" seemed so tall...
-----------------------------------------------------------
You saw a teenager with a neon green mohawk and thought to yourself, "man, that's cool. I'm getting one of those when I get older."
-----------------------------------------------------------
One of your parents put you in a half shirt and showed you off to all their friends, saying how cool you looked with your belly button showing
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you called CD's "Compact Discs" and played them on your $400 dollar "compact disc" player.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Every comercial break had a 1-900 number
-----------------------------------------------------------
You saw previews for "Footlose" and was in awe
-----------------------------------------------------------
You swear you saw 'the sign' along with Ace of Base
-----------------------------------------------------------
You told people 'Don't have a cow, man" and "eat my shorts" and sang 'jingle bells...batman smells...robin layed an egg...the bat mobile lost its wheel and the joker got away..hey!". oh..and learning to 'do the bartman' was a skill perfected only by watching simpsons videos over and over again.
-----------------------------------------------------
When skip-its were the in things
-----------------------------------------------------------
When the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" came out
-----------------------------------------------------
If you ever wore your hair Cyndi Lauper-style (aka ponytails on the side of your head!)
----------------------------------
If you can recite every other word from Dirty Dancing
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you can remember the toy "sit and spin"
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you can identify with at least half of these, you are a child of the80's!!

The story is even better. THe girls convinced two of the guys to let them shave their legs. (Both guys are named Dan, we had six of them working at camp that year) They were going to wax one Dan's but they didn't have any wax. So they tried Duct Tape. Aside from the small bald patches on his leg, all he got was pain. The other one was interupted by our boss and told to go take a shower(they were in the process of dying his hair blue at the same time, boss no like). He only got one of the legs shaved. So he walked around for a month with one shaved leg. Then we pointed it out to his campers so he was being mocked by fourth graders. It was beautiful.
Camp has so many lovely memories....

This is a thread out there for all the folks who were an actual kid during the 1990-1999 time span. What are your fondest memories of the early 90's? Late 90's?

My Little Pony's in the early 90's was the best thing to me as a child.

Oh man. Where to begin? I got to be a kid the entire decade pretty much. The nostalgia thread is really heaving in growing up memories.

I remember playing Barbies at birthday parties. And the movie Tremors. And when Nancy Kerrigan's knee got whacked. And watching the white Bronco below on the freeway and wondering what the big deal was. I remember GI Joe and Puffalumps and Wrinkle dogs. I remember when X-Men was a Saturday morning cartoon and so was Ghostbusters. I remember when Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! and The Neverending Story didn't have sequels. I remember the first music video I saw on Mtv and I remember owning Milli Vanilli's record [yes, record]. I remember the New Kids on the Block craze and having the dolls. I remember HAIR METAL and Melissa Etheridge when she was still in the closet and Madonna version four.

And counrtry music? I remember when The Judds were a duo and when Faith Hill had strawberry hair that was frizzy and curly.

Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up.

I remember the Wrinkle Dogs, Barbies, and the Pound Puppies...which might have been the Wrinkle Dogs? Can't remember. I remember the Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth coming on the Disney channel. I never finished Labyrinth when I was younger; I always went to bed at the ballroom scene. I remember the Disney movie Fern Gully, and The Aristocats, the other movie with Darla in it. I used to listen to the Judds when I was younger. My mom would put on their cd and I would dance to it in the living room. The Pink Stuffed My Little Ponies that had their mini pony babies inside the velcro stomach. The NSync craze was insane; I sang 'I Want You Back' with my cousins for-ever. I never owned any NSync, BSB, Spice Girls, etc cds. I DO remember when LeAnn Rimes was in concert on the Disney channel and I watched it. I remember when Britney Spears was in concert.
I never really caught much of MTV...but when I did it was in the mornings. I distinctly remember the Red Hot Chili Pepper's and their video 'Otherside'. In the early 90's I remember Lambchop, The Muppets movies always going on tv, and Inspector Gadget. there's tons more...I'll have to see if I remember.

Oh yeah! And Growing Pains and Jonathan Taylor Thomas ( :-* ) and the cartoons that would come on Saturday mornings. I remember The Hulk, X-Men, and tons others.

I don't remember rock music at all. I do remember seeing pictures of those hair metal bands...even though they were in the 80's as well.

I remember the stuffed bear on the Trapeze at the mall. :( The Last Unicorn...all old movies. I'm the one you see in the Children's section in Blockbuster with all the old episodes and cartoons. I am also the one who remembers lots of things from her childhood. I remember Care Bears and the Felix the Cat movie and Dr Suess...and Dr Suess and his little movie went on allll day on Christmas that one year. And Gremlins, Hello Kitty...

I also remember the spandex pants with baggy shirts my mom used to dress me in... and how the cool thing to wear to church was little itty bitty dresses with shoulder poofs the size of my head.
I remember the ORIGINAL Power Rangers and Fraggle Rock... and my-sized barbies and how you were the "weird kid" if you didn't take karate.
I grew up listening to the Beach Boys.... and i saw them in concert when I was 3. i remeber that, surprisingly.
in the lter 90s, i also remember the pop craze.... and trying to start a 2-girl pop band when i was 8 or 9.

ME TOO! I was like in 3rd or 4th grade when that movie came out (well, the summer between, I think), and I thought the movie was going to be stupid, then I went and saw it and LOVED IT!!! I was obsessed with The Lion King for a few YEARS! I also remember Barbies and Legos (me and my older sister were real tomboys) and the movie of The Hatchet (which was my older sis's fav book) and White Fang (I read it when I was in the 3rd grade and thought I was the coolest person on the planet) and the Hardy Boys and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Batman cartoon...ah...so much to remember! And Jurassic Park cuz that movie made me have nightmares about rampaging T-Rexs for ages! And skateboarding and bicycle riding with those horrendous neon colored bike tights and helmets and pads!

Then in the late 90s I remember when I started getting more into MTV and music and boy bands and such...I was addicted to watching TRL and Road Rules and Real World and such...
