Does the end of revelation mean that says we will loose our part in salvation if we add to the book, mean the whole Bible, or does it just mean the one book of Revelation. What say you?

*Icame across the question seems interesting - X*

Ex. 32:33-And the Lord said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.

Deut. 4:2-You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Prov. 30:5, 6-Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their strust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

2 Tim3:16-All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Rev. 22:18-21-For I testify to eveyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He who testifies to these things says "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you All. Amen.

I would say that it speaks of the bible as a whole. I mean since the whole bible is the inspired word of God it would not be ok to add or take away from any of it. When you do you can distort the meaning. So it would be a safe princpal to apply to all scripture. I think it's important to note that the passage in Revelation is the final words of the bible as a whole not just the book of Revelation.

I agree with that statement and I think its directed at the mormans and other people like that and Those who iclude the apocyrpha into the bible... it was taken out for a reason...

but, does it apply to the Bible as we know it? Revelation & that warning were written before the Bible was canonized, weren't they? so does that warning simply apply to the Revelations of John, keeping them clean from people who want to alter them for their own purposes? just wondering outloud...so to speak.

good question, very good...
well, it said so in Deut. 4:2, which was pretty early on, so...

Or does it just simply refer to the revelation of God in general? (I don't mean just the book "Revelation") Like we shouldn't try to add to or take away from God's truth? I dunno, just a thought.

well, wouldn't adding or taking away from the Word be against His will because His word is written and we are now waiting for his return

Yes, doing so would insert the will, truths, or image of God into what the writer wants it to be. Therefore causing pick and choose religion. There are already a couple of groups that have rewritten the bible to what they "interpret" and thus creating cultic religions.

Thats true we are waiting but we can't just sit around and wait.... If im correct its why 2nd Corinthians was wrote... It was a letter telling the Gentiles not to just sit and wait for God to come.... Anyway.... I think that the verse applies to the whole Bible
