Are they breaking up? I completely understand, though, if they are. I hate to see all the old schoolers (they've been around long enough to be called that...) going, but times change. Their music just isn't the same, neither is their fanbase, and (like some other old school bands) they kind of have been pushing around the already dead dog...

i heard about that last night.
if you are a big supertones fan ya gotta see them in '05 as that is their last year as a band.

oh well, i'm not much of a fan anymore. i used to like them a little bit a while back, a few years ago, then they went to this weird style that didn't appeal, then their older stuff lost its appeal, so i'm not to sad or shocked to see them go

Oi! This time I have heard the band before their seperation (but not in concert) so I can say they will be missed.

i dont know how many people here like the supertones, but turns out, next year is goin to be their last year.
Our end date is yet to be determined, but 2005 will be the Supertones’ last year together...
this is not a rumor. this is straight from the Supertone's site (http://www.supertones.com). check out the above link for more info
by the way, i thought i clicked on music when i went to post this, so sorry its in the photos section. if it could be moved to a more suitable board, that would be apreciated.

I have to add this comment in!
When I was doing the Orlando Skillet/Disciple show I was setting up Lori's drums and John was messing with his amp (his bass died the night before).
I was being silly and turned to John and said "Skillet needs to add a DJ and some horns" He laughed and said "of all the things we might ever do, horns will NOT be one of them".. HA HA HA HA
We then chatted about ska and bands with horns... He told me he couldn't figure it out and never understood the whole "horns" thing... lol. I am not sure if he against them or not but he definately isn't into horns and it was funny to see his reaction!
I just thought yall would get a kick out of that. ;D

the only thing i remember about Skillet turning ska was a pic of Coop pulling out his trombone for a concert. don't know why he did it then, so don't ask. but i have never seen anything about them turning ska from anyone other than people on here.
Supertones will be missed. they were a staple of Christian music for a couple years now. but, things change. :)
well, he did mention it on the video content on Hey You...

I'm going to miss them. There is another great ska band gone. Someone needs to start a new ska band before it dies. ???
That could be John's new side project...

Kinda funny, I just listened to my old cd's of supertones for the first time in years again today. I have chase the sun and loud and clear (used to have the self-titled tape back in day, lol). I have to say I found I still liked a few songs on chase the sun, overall it was still alright, but I could see the ska melodies almost getting sickeningly old...but I think I realized just how much more mature loud and clear seemed compared to it.
they are a lot better live then on album, I've only listened to Chase the Sun...

Yes, I've always known that, from years back when I was really into 'em. Like I said in my above post, I found the post-chase the sun a lot more mature, if you like the chase the sun sound at all, it wouldn't hurt to hear some of the newer stuff. I'm still not appalled by the break-up though...Chase the Sun was from, what, '98? Loud and Cler like '00? And they've had one new album after loud and clear? And then there's the fact they've had lots of members leave and be replaced through the years? And ska has all but dissappeared?
With just a week to the release of what was believed to be their final project, The O.C. Supertones new hits album Unite won't be the only offering from the band this year. Less than two months after the release of Unite, the band will release a worship collection entitled Faith Like A Child. According to a Hideout reader who goes by "Dorfs Quest," Supertones drummer John Wilson announced these project details on the band's official forum this week, "If all goes as planned, it will only be the worship songs that Dan [Spencer] and Mojo sang, all the slow worship-type songs from our other records, and two more of the new songs we rerecorded... A newer John-Davis-piano-driven 'Hold Onto Jesus' and a mellow reggae version of 'Louder Than The Mob.' Hopefully none of the other songs will show up on there. They are completely awful." Rumor has it, the project will include three songs from the never-released Supertones worship album that had been scrapped because the band just didn't like the end result. The song titles include "Famous One," "Enough," and "Here I Am to Worship." (from EMI CMG; Thanks to Dorfs Quest and Jonathan K)

Hey y'all just went to the Supertones farewell concert in Lancaster, PA.
BEST SUPERTONES CONCERT EVER!!!!!!!!!
If you love, like, or even just tolerate the Supertones you need to get out and see them on this tour. They are awesome (of course), but their opening bands are really good too. It's really just an all around good time.
I wanted to talk to Mojo but decided it would be impossible to get close enough to talk to him since after the concert he was helping tear down, so I decided to go buy a t-shirt instead. Then when I got back to my group I come to find out that he had walked right by them so they stopped him and talked to him. I was a little upset. Oh well, all I wanted to say was that I would miss them. (He did wave to me during the concert though).
Anway, GET OUT AND SUPPORT THE SUPERTONES.
Peace
