We like to keep things pretty laid back around here, but it's always good to have some basic guidelines just so everyone knows what is expected of them...

- "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." (Matt 7:12 NASB)

- Please try and stay on topic. We understand that one thing can easily lead to another in a thread but be mindful to not stray too far from the original topic.

- New members: Because we are a fast-paced board with new members every day we ask that new members introduce themselves in the "Introductions" thread. Not only is this a great place to get to know the other members of the board but helps us keep the boards from cluttering up with too many "Hi, Iím new" threads.

- When starting a new thread be mindful of the board categories and post threads in their appropriate boards. Check to see if there is a similar thread already created. Also be clear in your subject heading and main body of your post so everyone has no problem following along. Keep the subject brief, and have it relate to the message. Do not include things like "please read this message"; if someone wants to read the message, they will.

- Please don't post in ALL CAPS. not only is it more difficult to read, it is generally considered the equivalent of shouting, which isn't necessary.

- Language: Please be mindful and avoid any language, graphic descriptions, and images that would be inappropriate on the boards. This includes substituting in various punctuation in place of such words... just don't even make reference to it. If you can't seem to convey what you want to say without resorting to such language, we suggest you either check here (http://thesaurus.reference.com/) or simply don't say it.

- Sexually-oriented topics: after much discussion with the board members here as well as with the band, we have decided that this is really not the place for such discussion - they should be discussed with a parent, youth paster, etc. Most topics like dating and stuff is fine, but if you're unsure if your topic would be appropriate then just check with a moderator first.

- Please keep in mind that these message boards are not the only tool we have for communicating with each other. There are private messages, our chatroom (http://www.panheads.org/chat), as well various instant messaging (AIM, MSN, ICQ, etc) programs available. Please use the one appropriate for your chatting (ie. please don't use the boards to have individual conversations with another member).

- Signatures: Try and keep your signature at a moderate length (in general, 3-4 lines should be adequate). A good rule of thumb is that if your signature is consistently longer than your actual posts, then it is probably too long.

- Advertising: while we don't mind you posting links to other sites that you find interesting, please don't come here simply to advertise your site. we're not an advertising agency, so please don't treat us like one.

- Only one account per user. If we discover that a user has multiple accounts, all but one will be removed (we'll give you the option of which to keep if we are able to get in touch with you).

- This list is not necessarily all-inclusive... we may have overlooked some things, and may adjust this list down the road as necessary. Above all, just use some common sense, and remember the Golden Rule at the beginning of this list.

If you have any questions concerning how to post, your post, the rules, or the boards in general please feel free to contact one of the moderators. We are really here to serve you guys by making this community run as smoothly as possible, so we're more than happy to help you out.

Some additional considerations specific to our live chatroom...

- Please don't flood the channel. Flooding is when you repeatedly type the same message a bunch of times to try and get people to notice it. It's inconsiderate to the other chatroom users and generally unnecessary.

- While you don't necessarily HAVE to, it's generally easier to keep track of people if you consistently use the same name when you come in the chatroom. We certainly recommend using the same name you use here on the boards if it is available.

- Don't impersonate other users or the band... it may seem funny at the time, but it generally leads to unnecessary confusion. Just don't do it.

- Try and keep deep religious debate to a minimum in the chatroom. It's certainly not that we want to stop people from discussing those issues, we've just found from experience that the messsage boards (particularly the Mars Hill board) are better suited for that level of discussion. It also ensures everyone is able to participate, even if they're not all in the chatroom at the same time.
