I just heard a song called Breathe Again on ChristianRock.net by a band called Flyleaf. Heavy music fronted by a strong, female vocals. It's pretty wicked freaking good. There's all kinds of little hits of Chasing Furies, old plumb, Gwen Stefani and Alanis Morissette. Fans of above mentioned should check them out. www.flyleafmusic.com

Wait, if they don't have a full length cd out then what the hell was it I saw by flyleaf at the crappy christian bookstore a town over! :o, this is not the place that would carry eps...or really any good music, for that matter.

edit: Btw/I can't tell, is this a christian or secular band? Secular label, no mention of God in their bio, but the music and meeting from going to church together seems to suggest christian...and the fact I swear I saw a cd that said flyleaf at that christian bookstore! ???

amodman
12-17-2004, 08:21 PM
You're being retarded :P. So, a brand new band signs on a secular label and has a few songs that sound like they're talking about God. The band never EVER mentions God or anything otherwise. That's not being "hardcore for jesus" like the dude on the message board said they were. If the label is trying to discourage them from pushing their faith too much, that's cool, but at least even secular bands thank God sometimes ::].

Fine, I'm being narrow-minded ::]. I'm so narrow-minded I heard 2 songs from a new band on a secular label and one sounded Christian and so I read through their bio to see if they'd ever metioned God there or anywhere, but they didn't. So I asked, cause I prefer a straight answer to speculation :P. I'm a narrow-minded conservative, screw me and my wanting a simple answer to a simple question!

theyre songs definetly have a christian influence... example ocean waves:So many wasted days
Come and go like ocean waves
it hits me like a freight train
And now I can't get off my face
How could I have been so polite to simply let them die
Who am I to spread my fingers after God has filled my hands
Watching the moments slip through like desert sand
Respect her ignorance
Just in case she takes offense
the darkness that's killing her
Well that is just not my concern
You're not guaranteed tomorrow

and again on "cassie":
I will say yes...
The question asked in order to save her life or take it
The answer no avoided death, the answer yes would make it
"Do you believe in God?" written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
"Do you believe in God?" written on the bullet
And Cassie pulls the trigger
All heads are bowed in silence to remember her last sentence
She answered him, knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
How many will die? I will die. I will say yes. Yes.

anyways they are awesome!

I haven't even registered at this board and I already found out from reading 2 threads there is quite a bit of arguing amongst everyone. I thought I would put a quote from Lacey on the Official Flyleaf message board. It has to do with a rumor that Octone wont let flyleaf play at Christian venues or churches. This is Lacey's reply.

"Hey. I appreciate your concern for our band's well-being, but this rumor about Octone not allowing us to play Christian venues, or Christian shows is completely false. They are very supportive about our faith and our message and our objective to have our music be for everyone, not just Christians and not just non-Christians. Our cd was released in Christian stores October 26th and Breathe Today is being played on Christian rock stations all over the country. This is all thanks to the awesome work that our label has done in getting our music exposed to the Christian market. I hope this clears up this rumor. Thank you for bringing it up. I love you Octone! You have been awesome!
Love, Lacey "

I hope this clears a bit up. Also, no flyleaf is not a christian band however they are all religious people.

the thing i love about flyleaf is how all their song meanings are SOOOO deep. the song so i thought means a lot to me..especially after i heard lacey explain it...if anyone wants to hear it just ask i typed it out..from a video i saw.. i love all their songs..i also really like all around me..they just made the video a few days ago..i can't wait for the release.

I actually would be interested in what "So I Thought" is about. I think I heard an explaination on a Youtube video awhile ago, but it didn't connect too much for me. So I'd like a refresher course in the song meaning.

It's awesome that they did a video for "All Around Me" because that's my favorite song on their album. It's very ethereal and worshipful to me. I like the bridge.

Also, you have an awesome Lacey Mosley quote on your siggy, Joelle.

thanks.
here are two:
1. This next song is about how sometimes we start out deciding and promising ourselves and promising God one thing and then we end up with something different and I made so many mistakes in my life and so many mistakes in all kind of things. The point is that when we make a mistake we always have to get in the end of the line and start over that way we can stand right up-back up where you are and start right back off where you left off and you don't have to kill yourself because you made a mistake you just need to keep going. And that’s what this song is about.

2. You know there’s a lot of guys out there that mistreat girls, there’s a lot of girls out there that mistreat guys. And the whole thing about this is that, you know I’ve made a lot of promises, promises to myself, to my family, to my friends, to my God, and I’ve broken a lot of promises. And the thing about this song is that just because you know there’s something in us that wants to say you know you broke that promise and you’re trash now so you can just keep on breaking it and breaking it and the purpose of this song is to show you that just because you feel bad about something and it doesn’t mean you can’t stand out front where you’re at, you know something makes you think that ‘well I have to go get back to the back of the line and start all over again.’ But what I want to say in this song is that you can stand up right where you are, learn from what happened, and move on. You can make new promises and you don’t have to feel like trash because you broke your promise to God, or to yourself, or to your family, or whatever. And since you can keep on going you can make a new promise tonight and you can start over and that’s what this song is about.

just got back from my first Flyleaf concert! it was way cool, i was surprised how many songs i didnt know, new ones. and i really like the band Sick puppies that opened for them. and Resident Hero's lead singer sung SO i Thought, i guess he is the guy who sung it on the album. and im pretty sure they are in love, cause of the way they looked at each other, and how they kissed each other on the cheek, and the all around theme of that song.

Awesome concert, Jennifer, you missed out.

Lacey got a haircut, big time, at least from when ive seen her in vids. it is short and black, it looks kind of cool. and another part about the concert that surprised me was during the last song There For You, during the bridge she sang the Hungry Chorus (Im falling on my knees, offering all of me, Jesus you're all this heart is living for)

no they havent been in the studio yet..but they are going to hopefully in late summer. .i'm assuming after the family values tour. they aleady have 7 songs written for the album. my sources come from an article on flyleafonline.com: Mosley hopes to begin recording a new album later this summer for a possible late 2007 or early 2008 release. thats what is says..an if you still dont believe me here is the website it's in the last paragraph. http://flyleafonline.com/band/billboardcomarticle.php

where are you hearing new stuff?

DarkestRose
06-25-2007, 08:53 AM
I've been listening to a lot of their older songs on either Flyleafonline.com which has the songs Broken Wings, Christmas Song, Justice and Mercy, Much Like Falling, Ocean Waves, Okay-Tina, Penholder and Supernatural.

If I want to hear Tiny Heart, Again, Amy Says, Believe in Dreams, Eyes to See, Have We Lost, Sleepwalker or Whispering Fingers, I find a video that has it on YouTube (anime videos, Flyleaf collages or concert videoes) and listen to it like the radio. Flyleafonline also has lyrics, so I look them up to see what she's saying because the audio isn't totally clear in "Have We Lost" but if I can read what she's saying, it sounds like it to me.

Joelle
06-25-2007, 01:08 PM
i love have we lost!!!it's my favourite of their new ones!!!

here is a very good quality of the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eduVBkHxva0

and here are the lyrics:
Please don't tell me any more
There's a weight in your eyes
And it weighs on my heart
Where have the children gone
We were innocent once
But that was so long ago

Have we lost our way back home
We have made mistakes I know
I know

Don't tell me of better days
There's a memory I have could be something I read
Of laughter and cheap guitars
In a house full of friends
Could've been one of ours
We stayed up and loved the stars
Can't remember the rest
Just a few parts

Have we lost our way back home
We have made mistakes I know
I know

I think they lost something that they miss
I wanna find that book
Dust it off and read it again
There was hope in the end

Have we lost our way back home
We have made mistakes I know
I know

We were braver still when we were young
And when we were young
We spoke in tongues

timmyrotter

yeah she was fine when i saw her, but it seemed she didnt scream as much as i thought she would have, but i have never seen them live before so i wouldnt know...

DarkestRose
06-30-2007, 05:42 PM
Well, of all the songs I've heard of them, Lacey screams in less than half of them. I've heard her scream in I’m so sick, Cassie, Sorrow, I’m Sorry, Red Sam, Breathe Today, Justice and Mercy, Tina and the cover of “Pride (in the Name of Love). So I don't think they are much of a screaming band. However, it could be that she is toning it down for her voice.

bekbel
07-02-2007, 10:35 AM
Well I would doubt that she does much screaming live regularly, but then again maybe she is just taking it easy.

I saw them last week.
