Did we have a thread about this already? Anyway, I heard that particular song Thalia mentioned on the radio, and I was astounded: it is really good.

Blvrd. of Broken Dreams is alright and so is Holiday, but they've both been overplayed to heck, and the rest fo the cd just bugs me. It also pissed me the heck off they won the grammy fro best rock album when it's not even the best of the year and nor is it rock!

I like Green Day in general, but I don't like all the political statements they make and especially the ones that were extremely prevalent on their new cd.

Basketcase is a good song though.

I agree, I was a big fan of the older stuff. The new stuff just sounds like... well... everything else on the radio anymore.

Brain Stew has always been my favourite song of theirs. But WARNING is the best CD though: it really showcased a more mature style than earlier and latter releases.

Hmm, Green Day strong punk? I think not. For that you need to listen to Bad Religion, The Clash, or The Ramones. My opinion...

Wow, Green Day has the simplist music ever, I thought Nirvana was easy, but then I heard Green Day's new stuff, and I was like . . . wow, and the lyrics suck, I mean, what a combination? Plus, they're enitrely liberal. It's a 3-in-1 package combined into one ball of crap, what could be better. Now I don't have to post about Green Day anymore, so I feel better. Nimrod/Dookie are ok. American Idiot really isn't all that great. Jesus of Suburbia would have to be the best.

Good! We'll (I'll) feel better now also because we (I) don't have to read this drivel and waste my time.

Here's some advice: if you don't like a particular band, or disagree with their viewpoints, you don't have to post in the thread and lambast them. Simple as that. People who do post in the thread usually will like the band or point out the best attributes of the band. You won't have to waste energy because you won't have anything positive to contribute. Less effort on your part. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't pay attention to who likes what band much - or how popular they've become. I like a band for the music they've created. Green Day has been quite popular since Dookie. Their popularity HAS skyrocketed once more with American Idiot, but seriously, they've been a band many have enjoyed years before now.

(I agree with Jesus of Suburbia, that is simply a brilliant track and it's really the only one I play now on the album. It doesn't have the 'play over-and-over again' type of vibe to it as WARNING and Dookie did for me.)

I think it is just as much someones right to voice their dislike of a band as they do to voice their love. Bob had some really good points. While I don't judge bands on their how simple their music is most of the time, I do agree about alot of their political message.

If there's any GD fans out there, what's you're favorite song by them?
Mine are(in no order)
-Westbound Sign(Insomniac)
-Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?(Kerplunk)
-Going to Pasalaqua(1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours)
-Basket Case(Dookie)
-King For a Day(Nimrod)
-Jesus of Suburbia(American Idiot)
Those are my favs from the albums I have. But I can't choose just 1.

Wow, that was the most hateful thing I've heard today. Bashing a band on a thread where most others love the band goes against all my morals, and should be the same with you.

if you think about it...there are so many other bands that have simple music...so why are you bashing green day? they aren't the only simple-writing band. and i love green day by the way...their old stuff anyway

At least they're not a bunch of stupid conservatives that can't get out of their own way. Oh wait, let's not bash political stances.

For the record, Nirvana's still great even if they are simple.
