What are some of your favorites? Have any of you guys seen Return to Oz? It's a trip back to Oz that is based on the version of Frank Baum's books.

And big news for fans of American McGee's Alice game:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371796/

I found this on an American McGee site. I'm excited.

the game is rated M for Mature, but I'm not sure about the movie.

Games made into movies tend to come out horribly.

Frank Peretti wrote a book Hangmans curse and then they turned it into a movie. I loved the book!! The movie was ok but I liked the books ending better. Anybody else read the book then see the movie? If you did what did you think?

I DID!!!!!! i love the book alot better than the movie i have both but i liked the book better cause the plot was just better than the movie. i dont like when they take books/games make them movies but change the plots entirely and the charactors that gets me kind of mad.

ah yes. books made into movies. the one that comes to mind is girl, interrupted (the book was by susanna kaysen)...i thought the movie just outdid the book by far. i didn't like that book so much, but the movie was great.

Skynes is right, many books/games made into movies turn out bad. This is why I hope the Alice one doesn't suck.

Skynesy is right, many game-into-movies suck badly.

For example, Super Mario Brothers. Heard of it? If you haven't, don't be surprised. As a game-into-movie, it sucked. As a movie, it was OK. But seeing how it used the Mario name, it sucked. The man casted at MArio wasn't too awfully bad. But, John Leguiziamo (sp) as Luigi was the worst idea ever.

As for 'Living Neon Dreams', sounds good as far as the cast goes. Manson as the Queen? Very convincing, I can see. I still have yet to play the game (American McGee's Alice)... >:(

House of the Dead was horrendous. Period. The man who made it even called it "a success." What a loser. Too bad he's in charge of another game-into-movie. (I think it was Rainbow Six, but I could be wrong.)

Resident Evil and Apocalypse were great, though. We got lucky.

I am very much hoping that the Metroid adaptation will at least live up to a RE degree. Being a huge fan of the Metroid games (not the Prime games, sorry) it would be a backstab to ALL Metroid fans if it sucked.

As for books-into-movies, I love the Harry Potter movies. And some Stephen King ones are good. I love Sphere and Jurassic Park (Michael Chrichton's works) to this day. I'm running out of stamina, I had best end this post.

I think that the worst example of a book or game being turned into a movie is Starship Troopers, by far. ::] They took a wonderful work of science-fiction and turned into the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen in my life. >:(

Lol, I've never read Starship Troopers...but I had fun watching that movie. I love how you aren't sure if it's a comedy or a serious movie all the way through...granted, that means it's crap, but I still think it's a fiun movie. Especially to watch with friends.

??? How the......who in their right freakin' mind would consider THAT, an even remotely serious movie??!! The only reason I found it slightly funny was because it's so pathetically different from the book. ::] As far as I'm concerned that movie is no where near worthy of the title Starship Troopers. >:( And as near as I can tell the creators of that movie only had two things in mind: 1) to see how violent they could make it, and 2) HEY LOOK! Topless girls! ::] >:( I don't see how anyone could ruin Robert A. Heinlein's work anymore than that. *remembers The Puppet Masters* ::] Nevermind, I stand corrected.

I'm not sure if this is limited to Nintendo games or not...But one of my favorite movies of all time is Clue. It's hilarious! Has a bit a crude humor in it, but it's just so awesome! And since with the game you could have anybody, with anything, in any room, as who killed Mr. Body, they have three endings of different people. It's great! Might be hard to find, though, cuz it was made in the 80's and wasn't all that popular.

...it's about Mortal Kombat. Don't you know what the game is about? Fighting to save the Earth from an evil sorcerer bent on conquering Earth? The usual story? ::]
