Start with screaming whispers, and build on it.
Soundproofing your garage wouldn't go a miss either.

Understandable, I had a rather heated discussion with my darling father last night about metal music. Considering its my preferencial listening material, I wasn't exactly going to allow him to state that its satanic music, and that people are only interested in it because of the beat (or something along those lines...). I mean, the beat? Even country music has a beat...*infuriated*.

The best way to learn the bass is to learn some chord progressions. If you don't know what that is, here's a lesson:
1. The beguinning and the end chords is always I (or i in a minor key) in ROOT position. If you want, you can end a piece using a IM7 (or i7) but all of these have to end AT THE SAME KEY.
2. There are 3 positions in a triad-Root (Scale degrees 1, 3, and 5), 1st inversion (scale degrees 3, 5 and 8ve) and second inversion (scale degrees 5, 8ve and 3^). In a 7th chord, just add scale degree 7.
3. There are what's called chord progressions in which a chord is followed by a different chord. The most common chord progression is the V-I (or a Perfect Authentic Cadence or PAC) which usually occurs at the end of a song.
4. Here's where it gets tricky. Let's follow the ol' fashioned I chord. If it's in root position, the bass note is scale degree 1. If the chord is in first inversion, the bass note is scale degree 3. If it's in second inversion, the bass note is scale degree 5.
Depending on what key the music is, the scale degree will always stay the same. An even faster method is to learn tablatures. You can pick up tabs from any music store or online.
As for singing, I would highly recommend that you take vocal lessons either at school or with a private instructor. If you take lessons for a month, your voice will adapt to not only musical notes but intonation as well.
Hope that helps. :)

cloroxmartini

yeah. it sure seems like it. like some guys just scream their lungs out. oters i notice yell. yelling isn't as cool as screaming. screaming gets your point across much more dramatically i think.

well, theres a highere pitched scream, Like Daniel Wydnet (Zao)
or a lower one, kind of a growl, like Ryan Cloark (Demonhunter)

i don't like screaming all the time. it's like salt on food; too much and it taste bad.
i think differently, as long as the music is good behind it, I like it, I don't like these stupid power chords through the whole song...
