Hi. I'm doing something on parental advisory things. Well, we have to have alot. It's not going to be easy but I'm doing research on these bands who have had lots of controversy.

It's a paper that has to have certain elements like infomation, a personal experience, and then it has to relate to the culture and all. Well, any suggestions? I mean I've already picked out a few bands.

You WERE a bit vague with saying you are "doing something with parental advisory things." Is this merely a homework assignment? If so, is it a research paper or just an analysis? How long is "alot."

By "lots of controversy," do you mean a band like Green Day and their political message? A band against Bush this past election? Or is it just a bad that has a lot of swearing on a record?

Information: check out articles, or maybe sites online, that talk about the parental advisory sticker.

Personal Experience: maybe when you have possibly considered buying a CD and then noticing it had the sticker on it, or perhaps actually getting the CD, noticing that it has a ton of profanity on it but not the sticker.

Relate to the culture: talk about censorship in America.

You could also look at the controversy with Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart usually only sells "amended," or edited versions of CDs, but someone sued the corporation a while back for the live Evanescence CD in which Amy Lee sings a cover of Korn's "Thoughtless" which has the "f" word in it. The CD that Wal-Mart sold was not amended, nor did it have the Parental Advisory sticker on it...

Okay then thanks. It's just something that could be a broad topic. I wasn't too specific.

I know, it shouldn't have been brought up here, but some people have been talking about it.

Just wondering Red_Gal, are you deliberately ambiguous or does it come naturally?

there was nothing wrong with bringing it up. we've talked about much worse things on here (have you seen Mars Hill recently?). the thing people are questioning is your vagueness. you seem to not be very specific about, well, anything. :-\ lends itself to a whole host of interpretations.

You could try the act (it could be a law, though) about the parential advisory print, enacted in the early 90's. Look it up in Yahoo.
