"'If it's a positive reaction and he's willing to talk to me, then I'm not gonna release it, but if the reaction is not positive, I'm going to share it with the world.'"
What are everybody's thoughts on this quote?

I think it shows how pathetic people are when they don't get what they want. It's a lack of maturity, a temper tantrum if you will, that either they get what they want or else there will be hell to pay. It's dumb that people would do such, especially if they were trusted enough at the time to know the information.

I don't know the context of the quote, so I'm going based on just was posted.
The person being quoted is a big brat that needs a solid spanking. If it's to do with correcting/rebuking someone, they're not following the Biblical order which is:
Speak on your own
Speak with 2 or 3 people
Speak to the Congregation
Kick them out.

That quote was attributed to Brian "Head" Welch, formerly of the band KORN. This quote was in regards to a song that he said the Lord gave to him as a "letter" to the rapper 50 Cent.

i'm with amos...what is the point of the thread? where is the surrounding text? anyone can take something someone said and place it out of context to get their point across.
i don't want to come off too harsh, and at the same time this kind of stuff disturbs me...we aren't a board that puts up with threads for the purpose of putting someone down. so please send me, or another moderator, a valid excuse to keep this thread open. in the meantime, i'm going to close it so it doesn't turn into "brian is evil/wrong/etc."
thanks for understanding.

ok, so things have been worked out...so i am re-opening the thread (thanks again).
Here is the article where I found that quote:
"Since he left Korn last month to focus on Christianity, Brian "Head" Welch has delivered a sermon from the pulpit, traveled to Israel and been baptized in the Jordan River. Now he's turning his attention to saving souls — and he's decided to
start with 50 Cent.
On Friday, Welch e-mailed MTV News detailing his trip to Israel (see "Claiming 'God Told Me' Brian 'Head" Welch Is Baptized In Israel"), where he began working on solo material to be released under the moniker Head. One of the songs he discussed in detail was — as he described it — "a personal letter to 50 from God," which he may or may not release, depending on 50's reaction to it.
"The Big Guy speaks through me a lot when I write, and I have a song for 50 Cent I wrote in the Holy Land. I feel like it's a personal letter to 50 from God, so I'm going to give it to him personally and see what his reaction is," Welch wrote. "If it's a positive reaction and he's willing to talk to me, then I'm not gonna release it, but if the reaction is not positive, I'm going to share it with the world."
Welch said he doesn't fear retribution from 50; rather, he feels protected by the fact that he's merely acting as an emissary between God and the former Curtis Jackson.
"It's not a mean song, but it is like a loving father disciplining his son and telling him how it is — kind of like Tré's dad in the movie 'Boyz N the Hood,' " Welch continued. "There is really no way he can come back at me through music because it's not from me ... it's from the Big Guy. Even 50 respects the Big Guy."
50 Cent's spokesperson at Interscope Records had no comment on the songs.
One guy Welch might have a little beef with is his former bandmate, Jonathan Davis. Last weekend, Davis posted a statement on his blog, criticizing Welch for his "false crusade." In another e-mail, Welch responded to Davis, saying he still loves his Korn brethren, but that he was beginning to bristle at those who doubt the sincerity of his transformation.
"Sorry Jonathan, my 'false crusade' was not the reason I left Korn, it was what saved my life," Welch wrote. "I still love those guys to death, but if anybody trashes God, I am human and will defend Him and myself by any means necessary."
Welch's solo CD is close to being completed, and he adds that he's just finished one instrumental track called "A Letter to Dimebag," which he wrote in tribute to the late guitar legend.
"It's a guitar-solo instrumental," he explained. "I wrote it for Dimebag because he always used to tell Munky and I to put guitar solos in Korn's music."
At press time, there was no release date for Welch's solo album, nor had he signed on with a label to distribute the record.

i can see how it would be a confusing quote and i wish the one interviewing dove into that more. maybe what he is trying to say is if 50 cent accepts the message than he'll release it. but if not, he will still release it, not because he is forcing 50 cent to become a christian (no one can force a genuine commitment) but maybe because he believes in the power of the song and it's ability to speak to others. God is the loving Father who tries to reach out, in love, to everyone. it's just a matter or whether or not we receive it.

yes I think the interviewer should have asked for Brian to explain what he means. Or maybe he did and it didn't make the article; wouldn't be the first time that has happened...
We can all make our assumptions based on the limited info and mine would be it sounds like a "Dear Slim" song. But hey I could be totally wrong.
Mainstream music including christianity is just getting started. There still are plenty of those who look for the least bit of controversy and try to blow it up into a frenzy.

It still seems too forceful to 50 cent. I think that Brian is on his "new Christian high" which many people get and can take things overboard. I remember being a Christian newbie and taking things too far, more of a "do or lose" attitude, which isnt really Christian.

THANK YOU, kdrummer! You flippin' rock, because what you stated is exactly how I feel about this quote, and the situation this quote is in regards to. When Brian spoke at VBF, he made a comment about his past with drug addiction which kind of struck me as odd. Brian made the comment that he believed God made the drugs he was addicted to so that he could overcome that addiction, and then come to Christ. I looked past that comment, but this one that I quoted really got me concerned.
I think it's admirable that Brian wants to reach out to 50 Cent. However, I think that while what he desires to do and how he desires to be used is admirable, this is too much too soon. I believe in my heart that 50, like most anybody who's heard about the Lord knows they need Him. Although, also like a lot of other people, 50 has not yet made the choice to follow God. So this approach that Brian is taking, the approach of "react positively or I'll tell people what God spoke to me about you" could actually have a negative affect and most likely not a positive one. 50 doesn't need another person giving him their ideas on right and wrong. Although, even more than that, it's far too soon for Brian to be comin' at 50 like this.

"react positively or I'll tell people what God spoke to me about you"
From the full message, it's the song he's going to release, not everything he knows of the guy. It does make sense. If 50 cent listen to him, then why does he need the song? He wouldnt. So there's no need to release it. I think that may be what he meant.
It is possible this is too much too quick, but maybe not. The Apostle Paul was changed in an instant. It happened with him, it can happen with others.
