04-13-2005, 01:32 AM
I don't think they air the GMA's on tv, do they? :\

04-13-2005, 08:43 AM
I don't believe they do a live telecast but I've seen them played on TBN. In fact just a couple of weeks ago I was channel surfing and they were playing last years.

First off I would like to report that Skillet did not win the award :'( It went to Sanctus Real.

Oh well.. we had an awesome time anyway!

We got there around 4:30 and were given tickets into the event. We were walked into the hall early and shown what we were going to do and even did a rehersal.

Then we sat up top in the mezzany (sp?) for the start of the show. When the show started the place was half empty; that's what ya get for starting a show at 6pm during the week day (duh). Anyway the opening act was Denver and the Mile High Orchestra (ohhh the negative connotations that come to mind). I thought they were going to be lame but they were AWESOME! they provided the intro/exit music for every award as the acts made their way on and off stage.

The entire event was for TV so there were several times in the middle of it where they would stop, the stage manager would walk out onto stage, say something outloud, and then dissapear. Barlow Girl had to redo their song again due to a mic problem.

The person who wrote the script for the teleprompter was an IDIOT and the person who was scrolling the teleprompter was an even bigger idiot. Those who were there know what I am talking about. ;)

Then the director of the GMA made an idiot of himself by reading a speech prefabricated from the labels about how people who download music are thieves... >:( I think I was the only one in the house who actually 'boooed' him. People gave me a funny look too... it was great. We can discuss this in another topic or something but not here.

Skillet was near the very end of the event; it seemed like forever. Steven Curtis Chapman introduced them and then they started to play. We were brought down to the bottom floor to wait. Once they were introduced all 100 or so of us rushed the stage and began rocking out to Savior. Our cue to rush was SCC saying "and now we are going to heat things up with Skillet" It was awesome; most of us were on camera, Ben was going wild with his gtr, both Ben and John came to the lip of the stage for high-fives and the best part of it all was that they had CO2 canisters for the choruses! WOOO HOOO. Next year they need pyro!

Even though most of the night was fairly boring I am glad I went. I had never been before and the normal ticket price was $60 so I couldn't have afforded to go otherwise. Unless Skillet plays again there I don't plan on going back but I am definately glad I went!

I want to give a shout out to Wil from Memphis and Robin from Georgia a very groovy chick who is quite the Panhead (she has snazzy boots too!). ;D

Kewl Kewl.
Wish I could have gone but lots of gas for 1 song.

04-14-2005, 06:08 AM
IT ROCKED!! i wish skillet had won though. that was a bummer. but still, our seats costs $95.00 but we got them for free. it was really fun. Although if anyone ever mentions the Crabb Family to me I'll scream!!!

04-14-2005, 07:14 AM
The director did not make a fool of himself. It was lame to boo him...and ignorant.

Skillet did great...period. No backstage passes though :)

04-14-2005, 07:27 AM
i thuoght the gmas were the same as the confused

04-14-2005, 07:27 AM
and im mad at sanctus real

04-14-2005, 07:28 AM
Im glad they won but would've been happier If skillet did heehee :P

04-14-2005, 08:23 AM
Dude, seriously, everyone. You all need to cool it. There's no need to curse other bands just because they win a dinky award. How old are we all?

04-14-2005, 10:25 AM
ha ha ha... yeah... I clapped for SR even though I wished Skillet had one..

Anyway, none of this really matters because the awards are based upon industry insiders taking a vote. Here is a hint: the insiders are HIGHLY influenced by the labels (as in employees or contractors) so as usual the acts with the most backing win. Laava/Ardent doesn't have as much backing as say Forefront/EMI/Spawwow etc...

04-14-2005, 10:27 AM
i thuoght the gmas were the same as the confused
"The Dove Awards" are now called "The GMA Music Awards" I am not sure why they changed the name or whatever. But the awards themselves (the little prizes they give away) are called Doves.

04-14-2005, 10:29 AM
too bad they didn't win...but i'm glad they did a great job. :) sounds awesome...

04-14-2005, 11:25 AM
here they go again...

04-14-2005, 01:44 PM

Yea we all know skillet ownes all the bands other bands, they just cant handle their madd skilz!

04-14-2005, 02:40 PM
forgive me for not reading through thread until now...

FYI, it is never ok to "curse" another band. regardless of whether or not the won the award over skillet. besides, skillet is feeling more called to reach this entire maybe it's best not to have a dove next to their name (?).

in either case, it is not acceptable to put other bands please don't. thanks. :)

04-14-2005, 04:24 PM
skillet deserved that award! oh well we all know that... (i didnt know witch thread to post in because there are like 3 threads for this, 2 in skillet live alone...*hint hint*)
seriously how old are we all??? dont know ages... ah!!!!! *shakes head*
baby panheads...

04-14-2005, 04:50 PM
well, Skillet has never won a dove thus far so it doesn't really suprise me...

04-14-2005, 06:33 PM
I thought they won 2 years ago? :/

04-14-2005, 06:42 PM

04-14-2005, 08:38 PM

Skillet's never won a dove. I think they presented at the GMAs 2 or 3 years ago though.

04-14-2005, 09:49 PM

04-14-2005, 09:50 PM

04-18-2005, 05:49 PM
i think so. it was black with a red thingy on it. i don't remember him having a black guitar.

04-18-2005, 05:50 PM
oh thats not a new guitar he had a black one for a long time and so yeah or it might not dunno but he has a black guitar

04-18-2005, 06:33 PM
oh really? i've never seen it before. oh well.

04-19-2005, 10:35 AM
The GMA Awards are usually shown on Pax Tv. I dont really know how long it usually is when they show it, but they usually show every band performing. It could be on Pax in the next couple of weeks, and if not, in a few months. I know before that when I would watch it on tv that it would have been a long time after it really took place.

04-19-2005, 11:50 AM
Well I hope I can catch It I wanna see skillet really bad

04-19-2005, 01:04 PM
The 36th Annual GMA Music Awards will be televised in national syndication during the month of June. The list of stations, broadcast dates and times will be announced soon.
