OMG, the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is pure brilliance, it is amazing. I have a new and much higher level of respect for Johnny Depp's acting. He was amazing in this movie. If you haven't seen it, which most of you prolly haven't cause it just came out today, and I saw it at midnight...but you need to go see it. A little motivation for you and all I have to say is...two words...

TECHNO UMPALUMPA'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, this makes me happy...the review in my local paper gave it a measley 2 and a half stars and said that it "lacked magic." But seeing your review on it gives me hope, since I'm seeing it tonight for a friend's birthday... :D

I completely loved it, and I'm gonna go see it again this weekend. When you go see it pay close attention to all the looks that the characters give, and just the way they all respond to eachother, it's so great.

GACK!! i"m so excited I can't breathe! My friend and I are HUGE Johnny Depp fans and for the past 3 movies I think, we've gone on opening day and had Johnny nights where we rent a bunch of his movies and watch them of course. We still haven't seen all of them yet. But do to the fact that we both have jobs, we have to see it the day after opening day but whatevs, our policy is opening weekend. He he he...

i've heard it's a good eye-candy movie, but that it is darker than the original - and not as good (as far as the storyboard, director's interpretation, is concerned...)

I heard about that rumor...that he was trying to impose M. Jackson. Whatever, just forgot about it and watch the film. I saw "Charlie..." today and I liked it!

The interviews he did said he was trying to cross an old game show host with a souther accent that wasn't twangy. Dunno. I thought the movie was fantabulous and loved how it went deeper into Wonka's own history. The only reason I give it a 9/10 is because I always start to fade a bit when it gets to the tv part. I was like that with the origional as well. It's just not as cool as the others. At least in the new one, the kid had that kind of "up yours" attitude which made it a bit more interesting. :>

I also really liked how they went more in depth on wonka's life, though I think the main reason for them doing that was because there weren't really any huge names in the movie besides depp, so they gave him more time. Either way it was still excellent!

Wait a minute, he didn't look like a girl in the first one. I really do want to see this movie. I haven't read thru this thread just in case someone puts in a spoiler. I just hope that Johnny Depp can do (and I'm sure he can) the job of playing Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder was awesome, pretty big shoes to fill.

I loved the new Willy Wonka movie, I went to go see it the day it came out, I was impressed! My mum hated it, no surprise there. Johnny Depp's performance made that movie work, I love what Tim Burton did with the sets and design. The spript was great too! I've always been a fan of Johnny Depp, seeing him with long straight hair...woo hoo!!!

i didn't really like gene wilder in the first one, and i think johnny depp did a much much better job. gene wilder was creepy-ish, not the good willy wonka creepy but a different bad sort of creepy.

What are you talking about? Gene Wilder had a human side to him. Johnny Depp's character is a little cold,he seems to be lacking emotions.Gene Wilder played a great Willy Wonka, heck I even thought He was Willy Wonka. He will always be Willy Wonka in my opinion. :)

Johnny Depp with never replace Gene Wilder as "THE" Willy Wonka, but he did do a smashing good job.

The one scene that I did miss was the scene with the bubbles, and the belching so funny in the original movie. Oh well, the history on Wonka made up for that scene missing.

Sacrilege!!! Gene Wilder will forever be the Willy Wonka in my head. And it should be in everyone else's.

Although it was an enjoyable experience overall, Johnny Depp seriously creeped me out. I don't know. Something just didn't seem right about the way he played it. He had the zany down well, but I think he went a bit too far with it. Tim Burton is awe-some as always, so that rectifies things.

one: you like ben kasica? *puke* john cooper rocks.
two: johnny depp ROCKS!!!!! and i loved charlie and the chocolate factory! my favorite quotes are:
"everything in this factory is edible. i am edible! but that, children, is called cannibalism."
-willy wonka
"i'm violet boulegard!"
-violet
"i don't care!"
-willy wonka
"...he has a weird haircut."
-charlie
"i do not!"
-willy wonka

yep. that movie rocks. :D :D :D and i love all the candy. :lick: ;D all i need now is the dvd. and i am gonna make a shirt that says "vote for willy" on it. sorta like the "vote for pedro" shirts they sell now. (and i of course love napoleon dynamite :P )

i also love when the puppets burn.
"why aren't you up there?"
-(who does that line? i think it was verouca or mike or someone.)
"i couldn't very well see the show from up there, now could i?"
-willy wonka
"and here is the puppet recovery hospital. it is fairly new."
-willy wonka

I saw it. It was amazing.

My favorite part would have to be one of the two following. When the kids arrived at the factory, the whole show with the singing and the fire works and the fire. Then Willy Wonka was standing next to Charlie (i think it was Charlie..... i dunno, can't remember). Or it was when the stupid little bratty girl was trying to take a squirrel and Wonka shouted "don't touch those squirrels' nuts". ;D

It was really well done.

God bless, Alien
