So, I had the conversation a while back and me and my friends never came to a conclusion and never really got anywhere near finding an answer.
Can the devil and his demons hear our prayers?

Hmm, good question...
I think they can hear the beginning, but it's overwhelming to them, they can't stand it, and have to flee.

See, i would think that yes they could hear us and that's why the devil is so good at tempting us and throwing things at us because he knows what we're praying about and how we're struggling, but then I think that no he can't hear because we are praying to God and because of his power and majesty it would be overwhelming like you said. I just e-mailed my pastor about it so maybe he can give a definate answer.

i would like to know what your pastor thinks...
Since the devil isn't omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent then I would say that the devil can NOT hear our prayers, even from the beginning.

Satan can hear verbal prayers, but he cannot read your mind. Since the devil is 1000's of years old. He knows your family history, he knows what makes you tick. That's why he always knows what to throw at you, the same thing that worked on your parents and your grand parents etc.
This also gives him the ability to take an accurate 'guess' at whats going on in your head. But he CANNOT read your mind.

and it's mostly not satan cuz he's not omnipresent or anything he can only be in one place at one time but his demons are all around and yes they can hear your verbal prayers

They hear our verbal prayers... and shutter.
Um, we need to get some verses in here real fast. Cause we can talk as long as we want, but our answer comes from the bible.
I searched Biblegateway.com for "Prayers" and I looked at the verses.. and Satan's not even mentioned. Nor is Evil. My guess is no, cause your talking to your father, but still, we need some verses if anyone can find them.

I know the devil can only be in one place at one time. But I think the demons can here your prayers. Sometimes during worship I find it so hard to pray and I always begin thinking about somthing else. I doubt its short intention.

I agree with Skynes.

Yeah, I agree with Skynes too. I'm still waiting on a response from my pastor. He's been busy this week and he likes to do a lot of research before giving me any answers, so hopefully soon.

I dont think he can. And you pastors will prolly be just as clueless as yall are. But like I think only God can hear our heart, but the devil can hear what we say aloud. Just makes sense to me.
I found a really lengthy thing on the devil.....but I can't find it anymore :(
Anyways, what I do know is that the devil will do what he can to stop you from praying, hence why it's like that for you TheFireBreathes, he distracts you by putting something else to think about there.

Are their any scriptures on this? Since I haven't seen any I can say, I don't know.

I don't think there are any scriptures, it's mainly just common sense.
The devil is 6000+ years old. As are his demons
He is a creature, a creation, as such he has all their limitations.
No creature can read the mind of another, so neither can they.
Demons can hear sounds. they also know every language, so they can understand any verbal prayer.
Its due to this that thinking rebukes against demons doesn't work. they need to be spoken aloud, or they won't hear...

I'd agree with mj4d. since the devil can't be in all places at once and can't know everything, then that would make it so he doesn't hear our prayers. The three "omni's" (omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent) are what set god apart from all else.
however, i'd be interested in hearing what your pastor has to say. I've never though about that before.

I researched this on gotquestions.org., here is what the person i asked said;
Answer: First, it is important for us to remember that Satan is not omnipresent – he cannot be in more than one place at a time. Only God is everywhere, only God knows everything. Satan must rely on his army of demons to do his bidding. Can Satan and/or his demons read our minds? Scripture does not say specifically whether or not Satan can read our mind. The Bible does teach us that Satan indeed is very powerful. Likely he was the highest of all the angels. He was persuasive enough to convince one-third of the angels to join him in his rebellion (Revelation 12:4). Even after his fall from heaven, not even Michael the archangel dared to confront him without the Lord’s help (Jude 9). Satan is the “the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient” (Ephesians 2:2b). Believers are exhorted “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7b).
The Bible give us no reason to believe Satan and his demons can read our minds. To me, that would take a measure of omnipresence and omniscience, which they do not have. However, Satan and his demons have been observing and tempting human beings for thousands of years. Surely they have learned a few things about us over the years. Even without the ability to know our thoughts, they can probably make a well-educated guess as to what we are thinking – and then attempt to use it to their advantage. That is why we are commanded to “Submit yourselves, then, to God” (James 4:7a), before we are told to “Resist the devil” (James 4:7b).

Well, that's why I usually try to pray in tongues.
I have, and I just feel safer, because Satan can't hear them, and say "Aha, she wants her dad to be safe tonight. Let's throw out a few fear attacks at him."
But, also when you pray, God is on our side, so the angels are fighting for us in the spiritual rhelm.
God is more powerful then Satan, so he gets some leeway over your prayers.

I know a sure-fire way to make sure demons won't hear your prayers. Banish them from your presence before you pray, and they won't hear your spoken words.
