Hey all, how's it going? Heh, not all well here...

Just a little while ago, my sister, fifteen, was assaulted by a forty-something. The woman grabbed my sister by the throat, choking her, and picked her up, slamming her into a wall. She also made death threats to my parents. It makes me very angry and sick. I don't believe the cop, who's at my house right now, because most of the cops in this county are lazy crooks. Please, anyone who knows law, what's the maximum sentence this woman can get? I've been losing faith in the system, and now it's almost completely depleted. Heheh, that's the way things go, but I'd appreciate your prayers and advice. The cop said that the woman would get the same sentence if she had assaulted an adult. I can't believe that. I can't. It's not that bad. It can't be. No.

This isn't legal advise. Most states will use either 12 or 14 years old as a cut off age when it comes to how they view whether the crime was commited on a child, minor, or adult. We'll pray that whatever happens that God keeps your family safe.

I can't help with the legal part, but I do believe it depends on what state you are in. Have you contacted a lawyer? I will be praying for you and your family.
