This year my son was accepted to a GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) school. They are planning a 1 week trip in April to Washington DC. I would really like for him to go, but I would feel much more comfortable if I could chaperone as he will only be 11 at the time of the trip. Then there's always the selfish reason that I have always wanted to go to DC. In fact if I had to choose between a European vacation and DC then DC would win without a moments thought. They will be doing fund raisers. I pray that the fund raisers will fund at least my sons cost. That would still leave my costs of around $1400. It's a good deal because it is all costs included but still not cheap. My hubby would even take the week off to be mom (taking care of our other 2) if I were to go. So please pray about these issues. To me it's a once in a life time oppertunity.

Wow...I hope it works out for you...sounds like a great oppertunity...will be praying.

If it does work out and since DC is only about 1 1/2 hours from us maybe we can meet up for lunch or something.

Well unfortunately DC got cancelled because it was just to expensive. Instead they are going to go to a camp in Cambria. One of the things they will do is visit Cal Poly. This trip will cost less than a third of what the DC trip was going to. So they will still get to go do something fun and educational.

It would be nice to go but I don't think I'm going to go. I've gotten to know some of the parents and teachers that will be chaperones so he's in good hands. But you never know if it's meant to be God will provide a way. This trip at least is just up north instead of all the way across the country.
