i got the cd today and as i was listening, i noticed that the theme is way different from any other of their cds.
there's not a single song about killing your "self" (being crucified with Christ)
no song like "gasoline" "splinter" "take" "pour" "you take my rights away" "vapor" "kill me heal me"
nothing about the fire of God burning away the messed up parts of you.
instead collide seems to be written to those who have been burned by the world.
past albums were for those full of themselves who need to turn to God and be humble.
this one is written to those who have been so hurt that they have nowhere to look but up.
other albums have stated that once we realize we are sinners we need to call on God to get rid of that sin and make us holy.
this album seems to be saying that when we realize that we are sinners we need not wallow in self pity, because God made us beautiful and he is there for us.
both messages need to be heard. i'm glad skillet took this perspective this time. rock on!!
(is this the right board for this topic?)
