john cooper said their naxt cd would be more like collide then all their other stuff. but he also said that they might do i new version of "locked in a cage". i really miss the techno, but personally i'm happy with where skillet is going in their career. i'm sure they won't let me down with their next cd. even though i would really like for skillet to do some metal, that wouldn't seem to work with john, but that is just my opinion.

I think they're going to keep the sound of collide going because so far it has been the most mature sound that skillet has produced. The work they did on collide was beautiful and I am looking forward to more like it.

Yeah, they'll probably keep the hard rockishness they've got going right now. I'm glad. It's my favorite sound of theirs so far.

I think Skillet could insert a few Metal riffs and keep the Collide sound, I'm sure I'll like it that I'll like whatever it turns out to be, they're just amazing writers. I new version of I Can would be cool too. ;D

And I cannot condone a remake of I Can either.

I hope its like their self titled or invincible. I really don't like alien Youth or Collide. So rock. Yup, go back in time guys heh. More rock less techno or whatever the heck it is, and more head banging.

I think it'd be really cool though. I'd like to see what Skillet can do in remixing the song and doing like a rock version or something. Locked In A Cage is a very good song, and who knows, this may be an even better version. I'm sure that a lot of brand new Skillet fans haven't even heard their older albums. And if this Locked In A Cage song hit the radio, who knows, it may help someone have a deeper/closer relationship with Christ or even bring someone to Him...

i think that i loved the techno/industrial sound but i do like the new sound a little more. but also, classics like "I Can" and "Locked In A Cage" shouldnt be messed with and are quite AWESOME on their own. but it might also be good to see what they come up with...either way its all their decision and like true panheads we should stand behind them tenfold!

-Savannah-

P.S. i think metal/rock and SOME slow songs, but not all...

mk kid
11-09-2005, 08:28 AM
it is probably gonna be metal /hard rock with screaming. although if you honestlythink about it i was shocked when hey you i love your soul came out cause the techno was so intense, so you never know they may change the style again. but it will be sweet when the new album comes out.

I got hooked on skillet durring AY so thats probaly my favorite sound (the more electronics the better!), but collide comes in a close second. I personally hope that they if they do keep a collide-ish sound, that they add something new and give it a variety. Thats what makes skillet so awsome in my opinion is that you never get the same thing twice.

I have been doing quite a bit of Skillet work from here as we are busily recording demos for the next skillet-rock your world project. I have to say, it's definitely my favorite skillet project to date - but doesn't every artist say that about their newest cd? Anyway, my vocals are back in action along with some more keys, but not like we've done before. That's all I'm gonna say about that..

but good news to all. :) you'll like it. those who want more of Collide, you'll like it. those who want more synths, you'll like it. if Collide was a bridge between the live sound of Alien Youth and the hardness of self-titled, then this new album takes that bridge and helps it span across the rest of the albums. nothing but goodness. :)

how's that for new stuff. ;)

Skillet is continuing to write for their follow-up to Collide, looking at a release sometime in 2006. "To answer everyone's question, we are working on songs for a new record." said frontman John Cooper in a recent newsletter. "I wish I had a time table for you guys, but we don't. We have about 9 songs written and we are working on getting another 8 or 9. We are trying some new things, but definitely keeping the rock. Once again, I will keep the panheads up to date with new info as soon as I know." We'll keep you posted as well!

too bad then, 'cause in the newest email from the band, John said that they will be in studio Jan-Feb: " Recording news! Skillet is finally setting a recording schedule for Jan-Feb. We don't know where we are doing it yet, but things are coming together. I have been working on songs and demos for some months now. I think we have about 15 songs at the moment. "

Not really. Most of the money a band gets from festivals is from merch sales. To release in June would mean they would have to put off their own album tour till later in the year. One of the big problems with the Collide Tour was that it was a year after the album was released. The hype had died down big time by then...

Bah, go to a show. And I mean a real one, where they headline and have tons of time and everything. The one I went to in Indiana awhile back Ben did a straight up 10 minute or more solo followed by one even longer by Lori on the drums. It was tight ;).

Well I personally love Collide's sound. It does an incredible job of mixing John's heartfelt lyrics with a hard sound. Something hard to accomplish in this day and age. In my opinion Collide is second only to Seventh Day Slumber. While I loved the techno, and I wouldn't mind seeing a re-appearance, I think they should stick with the hard, edgy, chainsaw type sound. If they go back to grunge, I will throw myself off the Eiffel Tower.

I want the new album to be basically Collide Part 2, not the name, but the content. Collide was a very emotional album, Skillet could put a few softer songs on their new album. Hopefully the new album will beat Seventh Day Slumber's new album.

Oh good, I was hoping they'd come out with a new one. I can't wait! I only found out about Skillet like a couple weeks ago kind of by accident but instantly became a fan! I'm pretty picky when it comes to bands and all but these guys rock!!! Deffenately up there with... the only other three bands I actually like :P (Blind Guardian, Nightwish and Evanescense being those other three).

And I don't really care what there next CD is like... I've checked out all their others except for the first self titled one (I'll get around to it), and while the Collide album is what got me hooked, I think all the others (so far) are pretty awesome! Synth... rock... whatever, its all good! I don't care, just give me more Skillet!!! (Though I would really like to see them lean a bit more tword metal :P)

I don't think Johnny is dressing emo as much as he is getting out of the funky looks. Also depends on your definition of 'emo', I never really paired screaming with emo, but that is just me (and me supposedly 'emo' friends), but anyways.

As a band, I think that they will be playing around, mixing things up, but not committing to any one thing...that how they have been doing things since the beginning, every CD is a fresh CD. So needless to say it will be interesting. I don't see alot of punk or emo coming into the Skillet scene, but we have yet to see.

It's funny that these two posts should show up in the same thread. Sarcasm is to panheads.org what pizza is to a chinese restaurant: there's the outside chance that there may be someone serving it, but there's definitely nobody getting it.

As for this nonsense regarding Skillet becoming more "emo" or anything like that--allow me to explain why that isn't how it works. I just got some insider information from my contacts high up in the band. They told me all about the CD, and it is radically different from anything they've ever done before. It literally blew me away. Here's a track list with a brief description of each song they sent me.

1. ABC (Originally this was by the Jackson 5, but we felt that we needed to cover this song as a tribute of sorts to Tina Turner and The White Stripes, our two favorite bands/singers ever)

2. What's Your Fantasy? (This little Ludacris number always brings us a chuckle, so we figured we'd share our laughter with the rest of you)

3. It's Only A Northern Song (Probably, no it is the best Beatles song ever created. We need to cover it in order to have a truly great album)

4. The Crayon Song (After spending a week at a ski resort, while being chased by a European Assassin we got the idea for this one)

5. Here We Have Idaho (The state song to the great state of Idaho. Idaho is a truly amazing state, one of the best)

6. You Can Have My Girl, But You Can't Touch My Hat (We love Country Western so we need to expand our musical horzions)

7. American Idiot (Green Day is a truly wonderful band, I lied earlier, I like them more than the White Stripes and Tina Turner)

Wow, that album is going to blow us away. I can't wait for it's release this year! I'll buy one copy, mabye even 2, heck, I'll buy 306 copies!

John thinks through his stomach way too much. The lack of In-n-Out may seem slight to you, but to this man, it's huge. Idaho is a no-no for great state. ;)

6. You Can Have My Girl, But You Can't Touch My Hat (We love Country Western so we need to expand our musical horzions)
John has been quoted as saying "God loves all types of music, except country." It's not exactly his favorite style. ;)

So I got everyone of my fans thinking that I hated country music, it's so great that I can manipulate them like this. Country music is the best, without it, the world would end, and I could no longer produce music. On March 9th, 2006 I'm going public with this.

On a furhter note, I think I really like the Internet more than jackets."

There, I have my evidence.

Ben just posted a bulletin on Myspace! Thanks Ben!

Hey Panheads,

Ben here. We are currently in the studio working on a new album. We're at the start of the second week of recording and things are going really well. Cant wait for everyone to hear the new stuff!

As far as myspace, over the next few weeks we're gonna be getting more involved with our site here, trying to keep you all happy and up to date with us. I'll be posting some pics from the studio to get you an inside view of whats been going on with us.

We've been having some great shows with Acquire the Fire. Last week in Tampa was probably one of the best for us. There were about 9,000 people ready to rock! We in turn rocked them.

Thank you for all your support. Hope to see you all at the shows!

Rap is what happens when someone confuses the microphone with the toilet. It's usually messy, and it never fails to stink.

Yes, please no rap..

The next album should be a mixure of power, gothic, and operatic/symphonic metal :D (or just one of the above)

Why not? What happened to the old "support the artist" attitude?

So what if they change their style? They still have to make a living.
