I wanted to get everyones input on what they think about Demons/spirits interacting with humans physically and such like. Example of what I am trying to talk about..... One day I was driving home from church in my parents mini-van I was alone and ya know how you can tell if someone is sitting next to you even if ya ain't lookin' right at them well I got that feeling when I was driving home. I knew that I was all alone (well alone from humans anyways) but I felt someone/something sitting in the seat next to me. Thinking it was my imagination I ignored it next thing I knew I heard a scratching on my roof and some shadowy thing fly out of the corner of my windshield. Then next thing I know I felt what I percieved as hands moving from my shoulders sliding closer to my neck. Needless to say I started freaking out and started singing (which I do sometimes when I get nervous) some Christian song can't think of what now and the hands stopped about 3 inches from my neck and got off of me and I saw another shadowfigure thing shooting from my side of the windshield to the other (right at the very top of the window) and it was calm for a second or two then I got the feeling beside me again and what felt like a hand being put on my leg and out of instinct like I would if a person did that I grabbed for the "wrist" and next thing I knew something was tingling my hand and right then I let go started praying harder then I ever had before and I saw one more thing dart from the top of my window and nothing else for the rest of the drive home.... So I honestly believe that it was a demon/spirit but what do you all think about this whole subject? P.S. my Dad had an encounter too but this message is long enough I shall tell it if I get any replies

oh, I totally believe it's possible. But Jesus says that demons shall not hurt us if we cast them down in His name :)

Well, I've had two demon encounters that I can remember, and my brother has had one too.

The first time, I was going into the basement to put a towel in the laundry, and I heard this voice saying "Hahaha, you'd better hurry up!"
Iwas the only one home at the time too, so I was really freaked out, and i ran upstairs.

The second time, I was going on the computer when my parents weren't home, and I heard a voice it said"Haha, why do you think you want to go on there?"
I ran upstairs, and popped in my POD cd, and it sort of went away.

My brother also was in his room, and he was lying in bed staring at the ceiling when his toy thing on his dresser started moving.
He went down to my room, and he said"Rachael, can toy's become possesed?"
I said yeah, and he said "Well, I think a demon is in one of my toys."
We went upstairs, and nothing happened.
But i believed him because he wouldn't lie about something like that.(He doesn't really lie at all though)

If the attacks cause fear you must rebuke the fear. Satan has power, but not even comparable to the amount of power God has. I know, fear can grip your life and it can be a foothold for Satan. In my life, I had to come to the conclusion that God was so much more powerful and His Holy Spirit in me strengthens me and there is nothing I need to fear. Satan will use anything he can to get a foothold, rebuke the demons in Jesus name and they will leave you.

Please share about your dad, baptizednbelievin, if you wish.

Ok here is what happened to my dad well my dad and his friend if ya wanna get specific. One day my dad and his friend (this was back when he was in college) was hangin' out in my dad's dorm room (or apartment can't remember which) They were in that kind of a mood that you both know what the other one is thinking before ya say it. Well they both were sitting there and my Dad said he felt like something was outside of the door and he looked at his friend and his friend acknowledged he felt it too. They both started freaking out and my Dad to try to calm his friend down stood up and went to the door saying that nothing was behind it and everything. (My dad said he was ready to wet himself and it looked like his friend already had) and from the momment he opened the door him and his friend couldn't remember anything until 2-2 1/2 hrs later when they were standing in the middle of a highway intersection miles away my Dad's feet were bleeding and his friend was drenched in sweat. Needless to say they didn't want to go back to my dad's apartment. So they stopped at a diner and ate for a couple of hours. Went back so his apartment and since my dad's roomate wasn't there for the weekend. He let his friend stay there that night (they had a room with two beds in it) my dad said he was just dozing off and he noticed the door of the bedroom was slightly ajar and then his friend started screaming not just a nightmare scream either but one of which was of pure terror. My dad said he went over to see what was wrong and when he got near his friend something knocked him back into his bed. Then he felt as if he was getting attacked by something he started trying to struggle he said the wierd part was the thing didn't seem to be trying to hurt him persay but to get in him. My Dad said something to the extent of Lord save me (can't really remember) But anyways something happened and it left them alone.

What an awesome power the Lord has given us to fight off the attack of the Enemy! Demons flee at the sound of His name. Thank God for the Holy Spirits power that He has placed within us.

I had a few bad experiences, some of them as of late and others times ago. Once, I couldn't move, and I couldn't say ne thing. And I couldn't move ne thing. - scary. But just thinking and crying out to God and he still heard and saved me.

Other times when I go into church at night, not just because of the dark, but because of attacks at night. Walking in the streets, they sometimes attack me.

Demonic attacks have a lot to do with fear. fear being their primal weapon in attack. fear = punishment (see 1 John)

But we need to rely on God more, cause his love casts out all fear. We aren't meant to fear evil, we are the strong in the Lord, by his might.

By ne means this thread can be dangerous in arousing attacks from the enemy.
But here is my toolkit:
1. pray the blood of Jesus over you
2. tell yourself that God is in full control and in you and walking beside you.
3. quote Bible verses
4. Sing God's praise
5. This put together builds your faith in fearsome situations
6. Most important: take every thought captive to the obedience and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
7. The strongest weapon: The name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. - saying this brings power and freedom. Because the utterance of Jesus' name makes the Spirit of God move.

Most of the time we can just rely on God to supply all our needs. And also God has sent many angels to guard us. We should protection for us and our families, this opens a space for God to work and allows the angels of God to minister to us. Remember just because we can';t see what they do, doesn't mean they don't do anything.

God is always faithful, although I have never met an angel while awake, nor asleep that I could remember, the Spirit sometimes tells me when they are around me or other ppl. (Not like in a "touch by an angel" style, they are just there standing around, usually in a specific formation, and I don't know what they are doing. I don't see them I just know)

We should really pray, cause when we pray to God, the angels gets commisioned to go out and do battle on our behalf. Still our focus is not on demons nor angels, but on our God who supplies us in all things.

Yeah, I saw an angel once too.
I woke up kind of late, and my hand was over my sister(I was sleeping in her bed)and i saw this lady with dark curly hair, and i thought she was my mom for a split second,(Because I wasn't all the way awake)and then I noticed she was surronded by light, and had wings, 3 sets of them.
She moved my hand off of my sister and pulled the covers over us.

3. quote Bible verses

Ephesians 6:17
...the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Coincidence? I think not ;D

Agent it took me a while to twig on what you were getting at... I'm just slow today :P

Do u mean this? Quoting Bible verses - this a weapon against spiritual attacks, since the Bible is referred to multiple times in scripture as a Sword and Sword of the Spirit it's appropriate that this is our weapon against demonic forces

That or singing a Christian song helps too.

I forgot to say a few things.
Two weeks ago, I went into the basement(again) to check my email(again)and I noticed it felt really hot down there, which is strange because our basement isn't heated very well, and it's usualy colder than teh upstairs.
It smelled horrible too, like sulfer.
I went to my desk, and I clicked onto my email to check it.
I felt this feeling like someone was down there with me.
I tried to click out of my email, and my finger wouldn't move.
Then I felt this hand pulling me down, and I almost fell onto the floor.
I saw out of the corner of my eye a shadowy creature thing.
It had red eyes, pointed wings, and these twisted ears shaped like horns.
I knew it was a demon.
Then I tried to run, but it was holding me down.
i tried to scream, but it wouldn't let me.
I started praying, and asking God to make it stop, and let me at least sing.
I coud sing after I prayed, and I sang "I love You Lord" as loud as i could(which wasn't very loud) and it let me go.
I ran upstairs, and just yelled for about five minutes.
Then I went back downstairs, and it wasn't hot, nor did it smell anymore.

You can have power over demons.
Not you, but God in you.

If we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, then demons can't mess with us. With the exception of temptation. Demons can't overpower the Holy Spirit. If we are filled with the Holy Spirit how can they mess with us. I have no explanation for your "encounter" though.

i totaly belive in demon/spirit encounters and have had a few of my own that i know were real one thing you must rememder is to take the athority you have over them and demand them to flee in jesus name basicly my whole family has had encounters like that. another thing is you cant fear them like the sons of sceba in the bible (i probably didnt spell it right).and remember demons cant do any thing to you unles God alows it wich is demonstrated in the book of Job.i really dont know what else to say except i belive you and know how it is and i might share my many stories later now that i know there are other ppl that will actualy believe me. ::)

I have a question. Some of you have had "encounters", and i'm not sure what you mean by "encounter". Do you mean you have had a physical encounter? Or is it mental? I just want to know, what do you mean by encounter?

baptizednbelievin
11-21-2003, 07:44 PM
Your question I have no answer for but I told you as close to how I felt and reacted to what I "encountered" as you put it. If you want to ring it up as a physical encounter or a mental one is your choice. Since they do say what the mind believes the body reacts to it might have been all mental but it felt very real and physical to me

OK. I just wanted to point out a few things.
1. This thread is not to post encounters, but it is to post how God, through the name of Jesus Christ helped us.

2.It is not a showcase for spiritual experiences, but a testimony of God's grace and power.

3. The enemy has NO power, when we go up against him in the name of Jesus Christ (We our selves being born of the Spirit, because we believe in the Name of Jesus). He has been stripped of his power.

4. The enemy puts up shows of power, to impart fear and hopelessness. He is not an overcomer, but a condemned fallen angel, who knows his time is short

5. We have the victory over him by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimony.

6. This thread is to build ppl, not make them scared of the enemy.

I think it will be better if we try and keep descriptions a bit less visual. Demons aren't the most beautifull things in the world, and we don't want to give them any honour in any way nor spread their influence.

I have no reason to belive that incounters of the supernatural don't exist. I've never had one personally, but I totally belive they happen. If what the bible says is right, then there are demons out there... But nothing to be scared about if your a beliver. Thats a diffrent topic (not all christians are belivers). However, I've been reading a whole lot about "Spiritual laughter" and not only does it sound like a pack of lies, but it also sounds demonic.

Nothing to be afraid of. lol. that is, if you are saved.

I've had quite a few experiences. We live in a dying world, where the demons live and rule where they can. They exist only in areas where God does not. *woot* I've learned a great deal about different spirits as the gift of discerning of spirits has been given to me. Oppression is a sick thing.

skillet_head

I've never had any of these encounters. I've had fear while in my bedroom, but nothing where I seen anything visual.

One thing to remember is we haven't been given a spirit of fear, but a spirt of power, love, and a sound mind. (Romans 8:15) The Bible also states that fear has torment. (1st John 4:18) Think of the demon-possessed man who saw Jesus and said "Jesus, Son of the Most High God, have you come to torment me?"

Satan is the original terrorist. He had that idea long before any terrorist group or organization. The devil came to steal, kill, and destroy. But the one thing to remember is that Jesus is inside you. "For I have been crucified, yet I no longer live, but He lives in me." (Gal 2:20) You don't have to fear those demons or anything. You don't see Jesus running away from the demon possessed people, He came near them and set them free.

Satan and his demons have no power over you unless you give him some. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The devil is more afraid of you than you should be of him. When he brings fear or something across your path, he's only doing that cuz he sees you as a threat to his kingdom. Look at Paul's ministry, the guy couldn't go anywhere to preach without a mob trying to overturn the crowd to kill him.

We need to see ourselves as children of the King instead of weak, 'always getting ran over by the devil' kind of people.

i personally haven't had demonic encounters but i know some ppl who have. the closest thing that happened w/ me was when i was a little girl, about 2, my parents just moved into this new house they were renting. the previous owners had a teen who was heavily into a Satanic 80's death metal band and had painted the bedroom black and made it a "shrine" to this band. Well, the landlord painted it and my parents moved in and the room where me and my sister were sleeping was that room. One night, my mom said she woke up suddenly and felt like there was intense spiritual warfare going on inside the house. But then she was reminded that God was winning and that me and my sister were His children and nothing could harm us. Then she fell back asleep and the next morning, she woke up w/ the feeling that God had won.

A few weeks back when I was sick I was in a pretty bad mood although I didn't know why.

I was trying to get to sleep but I couldn't all these thoughts of anger kept pouring into my head. I thought these were my owns thoughts, they had total truth in them. So I thought about them. Then when I got tired I tried to get to sleep and think of something else, but I couldn't. Although I was thinking of something else these other thoughts kept pouring in.

This went on for a few hours (was about 2am or so now) I was frustrated angry my emotions were up the left. The thoughts became more increasingly violent until it got to the point where I went "WOAH... hang on these thoughts are tooo mad to be MINE"

So I rebuked them in the name of Jesus and commanded them to leave. In that instant my mind was empty and silent. A very comforting and relaxing thing after spending 4hrs being unable to STOP thinking.

I noticed that afterward I knew exactly who/what it was, I thought it was strange that I didn't realise it before... I KNOW that Satan/Demons put thoughts in your head in the first person but at this time I didn't think of it... I still don't know why.

That's besides the point though. At the name of Jesus they fled and my mind was left in peace.

i had one last weekend, i was on the trampoline w/ my bro and sis and they said something like i don't feel well and i feel kind of scared and we prayed and recognized it as a denomic presence and my bro and i cast it away, and there he decided that he wants to get baptized. this is the first time i've recognized a demonic presence. God used this to give me experience and to show my little bro the His awesome power.

wow! thats cool! my mom just sent me this article today about Ouija boards and how dangerous they can be in terms of inviting demons into your life. There was this really creepy story about that happening to a guy when he was 13 that claimed to be true. I believe it is. Yeah demons are definately out there and now i'm know i'm NEVER playing w/ a Ouija board.

Ouija board = door opener. Xon = Completely right about not giving praise to Satan, or giving him a foot hold.

The only thing remotely close to an "experiance" Iv had , besides sudden fear, is when my closet door, was slightly ajar, just slightly, and suddenly before my eyes just opened. Then it did it again a few months later. I think the first time I was slightly .. confused. The second time, I saw it, but really didn't even acknowledge it. There is 3 possible explanations. The most probable is that it was the air conditioner. I'v observed at church, when the air comes on, the doors start to open and then fall back inplace. I think thats what happens in my room. 2nd, possible , but unlikely, Demonic spirits. I see this as unprobable, as I had little to no fear. 3rd. Which is possible, and was pointed out by my youth director, " Maybe God wanted you to get in your prayer closet" That would make sense, as to why I had no fear. I did not go in my closet however, as I didn't want to aggrovate the situation ;)

We seem to be focusing a whole lot on the enemy here... I had an encounter with an angel (I think), gotta remember that we have soldiers too. Anyway, I was about do go do something (I can't remember what now) and I was pretty nervious about it, it was probably something like a speach... Anyway, I just felt this sudden and desperate urge to pray, so I did. Almost immediatly, this sense of peace just overcame me, and I felt like I could do anything, because God gave me my strength. I had another encounter similar last night when I went to go see "The Passion" (which every one of you should go see). I felt the need to pray and pray hard before the movie started, so I did... I praise God for what he's going to do with that movie... Anyway, this isn't about the movie, so I had prayed hard that God would impact lives with this movie, and today at school all everyone was talking about was "The Passion", and it was really encouraging to see God answer my prayer.

On the subject of angels, well, i don't really know if this counts, but I guess it fits in with the whole prayer thing.

Kay, this happened years ago. When I was... eight, I think, my dad, sister, brother and I were coming home from Saskatchewan, where we had spent Christmas with my Grandparents. My mom was at home praying for us to have a safe trip home [she didn't come that year].

About two, two and a half hours away, the van broke down. We were stranded in some small Manitoban town.

Not too long after the van initially broke down, a man drove up and offered his assistance. He was alone, had an empty car big enough for all of us and our suitcases, and lived just a few blocks away from our house. He offered us a ride home.

Needless to say, that was a major answer to prayer there. :)

I don't know if it had anything to do with an encounter of any sort, but I was reminded of that story because my mom said she had been praying for angels to be "at the front and back of the van" to protect us.

I just thought that was cool and felt like sharing it. :)

If we are filled with the Holy Spirit how can they mess with us.

demons cant do any thing to you unles God alows it wich is demonstrated in the book of Job.
HE will not protect the area's of our lives that are still in sin and not submitted to Him.

"Submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

What isn't submitted to the Lord is an open door for the enemy to come in.

I have a friend who got into some porn; everytime he did, he lost his job and it even caused his dad to lose his.

I think it was a test or something about how strong my faith was or could be.
No, something allowed that to happen. I feel the Holy Spirit very stongly, that what happened with you is similar to what happened with Joshua, when invading the promised land and they got defeated. Someone had idols in the camp. I'm not saying this is on you specificly, but it may be something in the house, of someone elses.

I LOVE old threads, that is my subject opener.

I have never had an experience with an angel, is the sense of seeing one or knowing one is there in any sense possible.

But I have had a demon encounter.
One day, I was 12 or 13 at the time, I was heading up to bed, and it was dark upstairs, except for a nightlight in my room which was supposed to be pink-ish (it used to belong to me stepmom, long and stupid story) but when I got up to my room, it was all red. No, that's not the end of the story. I was halfway to my bed when I felt something coming at me from behind, like something being thrown at a fast speed, so I turned around and something dark and shadowy was heading for me, so like the foolish child I was I jumped onto my bed and just cowered in fear. I knew it was a physical encounter, because the string hanging from my ceiling fan (it was off) was wavering, and the fan started spinning. I think that after that day I was influenced by a demon until the day that I found Christ :-\

Ive had encounters with an evil spirit/demon on several occasions and i know its because i allow it because of some of the sins i commit which ive been battling. Usually i am awoken during sleep by an evil presence i cannot totally see but it is like a dark cloud figure standing over my bed or hovering over my heart area. I feel as though this spirit is touching my heart and grabbing it. I am not dreaming because i can see everything around me but i have no strength. I try to speak but its like im laying down dying trying to utter words like in the movies. It is a very HORRIBLE feeling and no doubt about it it was an evil spirit. I know it is because of my sin of which i am addicted to and im trying to fight. But my faith in Christ is being destroyed because of my addiction and i have no one who knows so i dont know what to do im lost. Anyway theres my experience.
