I agree with the fact that they are not original and I understand the strive to find something original, but I must ask why is it that we automatically dismiss a band if they sound like another one? If that were the case, if a band sounded like someone else that meant that I shouldn't like them, than I would not have come to like Skillet. I confess Skillet is very original now, however when they first started they sounded very much like any other grunge band out at that time. So, if I had passed judgment on them then I would not like them now. I don't know what the point of me posting this is just really a random observation with a few innuendoes...

Skillet isnt original at all. SOrry if that offends you all but the arent original at all. allot of bands like TerraSIn claim to be original but the arent the sound like every crapy artist out there. nothing is original everything comes off from something else but maby twisted a lil bit.

Most bands aren't original. Most music we have today came off of rock, and that came from blues, and so on and so forth.

Haha, I mostly only listen to drug music, I find it better than non-drug music. I couldn't care less what the musicians do as long as their music is decent.

He's kind of right. Skillet isn't original, they came from metal/hard rock, which came from the secular acts of the 60's to 80's. So did 10 million other bands.

Well, I can't think of another band that has really that Skillet sound. I mean I have listened to skillet and thought I've heard touches of Linkin Park (collide) and NIN ( eating me away) and such. But I still think they are pretty unique. I mean, no one can be totally unique, because there are limited vocal ranges and insturmental chord progressions. You can't come up with an infinite list of chord progressions. So of course they will be used more than once. If every band was "original" like you guys say , there wouldn't be genres, there'd just be bands.

Anyways, I was reffering to the Terrasin comment...that would be, I'm assuming, TERRASIN's band (well, music-making...thing, anyway) he/she was refferring to. I don't think you need a reason for liking a band, lol. No band sounds exactly alike (generally), even if they are very similar. There's always those slight differences in mucianship, style, voice, instrumentation, and pretty much everything. Besides, music theorists have been saying nothing in the past 10 years has been original, just copied in a new way (though, I disagree).
