Does anyone think and/or are afraid that Skillet might be on Mtv or Mtv2 by their next album? since they ARE on a major label now.
(I mean, that did happen to MCR)(take note that I don't know if Skillet's already on Mtv or Mtv2)

i hope they get played on MTV and MTV2 because they have a good message.

Hear hear!

I think MTV would be good thing for them. It's time to see some real music on MTV. I think one of the ways Skillet will get on MTV is if we request 'um.

Who is their label now?

the get played dpending on if there music video isnt like some other bands. i heard savior music video was like a music video that is allready out there.

It's really going to depend no how much Lava decides to push the new album this time and how they do on the charts after the release. Those are the two key elements to getting time on mtv/vh1. It's really in the hands of the promoters and the fans. If they get pushed to the top 10 rock charts, then you will probably see their video there.

So, is Lava a big contender like Atlantic, Epic, Virgin or Capitol?

12-29-2005, 08:52 PM
Lava is owned by Atlantic, if I'm not mistaken.

Lava is owned by Atlantic, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh, that's awesome. Atlantic put out Led Zeppelin, so maybe Atlantics charm might make Skillet put out cool music in blues, and not just what they do.

you can look on lava's website it shows what bands they do... some are: Kid Rock, The Click five, skindred, Simple Plan, smile empty soul... so they are pretty big i guess...

and i find it strange that unregistered people can start threads... it doesnt seem right...

Kid Rock is not only on the label, he owns it...

Owns it? I think you got a little bit of miss-information there.

Jason Flom, who is also CEO of Atlantic Records is the founder and president of Lava Records.

that would be really cool if they could get on MTV (or Canada's version, MuchMusic) It would be awesome for them to do their ministry, I always try to get my non-Christian friends to listen to them but a lot of people seem to be scared of anything not mainstream

President does not equal owner... However, I'm not saying I'm right on this. But Madonna owns Virgin Records, and I'm pretty sure she isn't the president or founder...

Lava Records was established in 1995 by Jason Flom, who began his career with Atlantic 26 years ago. One of the most accomplished A&R people in the music industry, in his early career Flom was responsible for signing such multi-million selling artists as Twisted Sister, Skid Row, White Lion, and Tori Amos, as well as helping launch the careers of Stone Temple Pilots and Collective Soul. Since Lava's inception, among the artists the label has brought to prominence are Kid Rock, matchbox twenty, Uncle Kracker, Sugar Ray, The Corrs, Vanessa Williams, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Simple Plan. Lava's newest artists include Antigone Rising, Toby Lightman, O.A.R. and Smile Empty Soul.

I'm pretty sure he's the owner. ;)

Ok. You win. :)

Actually, Lava Records is a subdivision of the Warner Music Group, not Atlantic.

01-15-2006, 12:53 PM
Actually you're both right. Lava is part of Atlantic but Atlantic is associated with Warner.
