so, why do you listen to music? everyone's so different. for me, it's gotta have good lyrics, which is why i choose a lot of emo and indie music, because generally, the lyrics are so rad. sometimes i like hearing cool riffs and such in songs, but it's not a big deal to me. as for concerts, however, i'd take punk rock anyday over emo because i love skanking and such. so, how about you? what's in the music you love?

I listen to music that sounds cool. I generally don't listen to music for the lyrics, there's only a few songs that I do listen to for lyrics.

I listen to music for the sound. Every note, every instrument, every sound effect. Lots of songs I listen to for lyrics, but I also listen to a LOT of music that has none at all.

Well...it dpends on what mood I'm in~ I looove music and could'nt live wihtout it~ I usually listen to music for the lyrics(rock,emo)when I'm in a melow or crappy/depressed mood. And if I'm in a good mood and want to dance in my room(haha) I like to listen to rap/hip-hop.And when I wnat to praise God I listen to a good worship c.d! ;)

Its relaxing, good lyrics, takes my mind off every day sick'o's I live with. Takes me away from reality and its just fun to listen too!

I listen to music for the instrumentation, the vocals, the atmosphere, and the lyrics. If I don't like the vocals, I won't listen to the band. If the lyrics are nonsensical, I won't listen to the song. Eveything has to fit. It has to strike a chord (haha) with me.

i listen to music because of the emotion that is put threw the song and that i tend to listen to emotional songs that describe the phase im going threw and like yeah.

Originally I will listen to a song simply because I like how it sounds, but after you listen to that song over and over again and learn the lyrics, it can be so much more than something that just sounds cool.

I listen to music because...um...I analyze them by chord progressions, NCT's, things like that. It's what I learned in college. :)

i listen for a mulitude of reasons.

the sound, a way to vent, a way to pull out things in myself i didn't know were there, the way it frees me.

if the lyrics don't fit me (not just bland lyrics, but ones i can't connect with) then i don't like the song, no matter how good it is. if the instrumentation is weak, or overdone in every third band, then i don't like the song. if the vocals don't fit with the lyrics or instrumentation, or if the voice just gets on my nerves, i won't listen, no matter how good everything else is.

short answer, music is my air.

i listen to music because of it's freedom and ability to express. it's personal. it's public. it's the insides of our soul showing off. it invites others join in the musical communion. it unites. it divides. it stimulates response.

it's the universal language of mankind.

Most of my music is Christian. Mainly due to lyrical content. I'd take Christian lyrics over swearing and pornography any day.

The music, I like to hear passion. Not some blandly poorly attempted song, but one were you can hear the band giving it their ALL. Skillet songs when you can hear John straining his voice for that extra second and that extra decibel really hits it home for me.

I listen to music because it stimulates me and it moves me. It's like an enzyme to my brain and way of living. It makes me think and it's just all-around good. It's also a form or art and exression, which I love to see what's in the depth of the human spirit (not necesarily the human mind).

I like a song that mean something, and I like lyrics that are passionate also. But I love when lyrics create immagery and put you in the song. I like loud music to be passionate and softer music to be meaningful. I like the overall blend of the instruments. For instance, I don't like to have tons of guitar, and everyone else just hitching on for the ride. I also like different vocals, it's kinda lame when the vocalist sounds like all the others. Generally I like deeper, more gruff kind of vocals, but I still like some punky/emo type stuff too.
