I ask a lot of questions on this board, I apologize for that. I would respond more to others' posts, but often times I don't know what to say or the subject doesn't interest me.

I love metal. Particularly instrumental metal. However, I am not all that metal-savvy because most artists I come across in the genre write lyrics that are very offensive to me (even some "Christian" ones). Thus, I end up retracting myself from involvement in the music, and am uneducated on the different subgenres of metal. It's like this with a lot of other styles, too, but it is unnecessary to talk of that now.

I was searching, once again, online, in hopes of finding something that suited my morals. (Again keep in mind how ignorant I am to this stuff currently) I came across neo-classical metal when I was searching for instrumental metal. I don't gather that it is necessarily instrumental, but I like the idea of metal with stylings similar to classical music. I love its brilliant complexity. Complex music is my absolute favorite, anyway. The moral content of the bands I found, however, were a large dissapointment.

Is there any Christian band out there that plays this style of music - With lyrics that are Clearly Christ-centered, and not bizarre and cryptic? Or, even a metal band without vocals, an instrumental metal band?

I'm not talking about the kind of metal with all the screaming - I don't consider that aspect of it to be music. At least not when screams are the only vocals in the music, and it's a constant throughout the whole song/album, etc. An occasional scream here and there for emphasis sets just fine with me - but screams all the time rack my nerves. (I don't know if neo-classical metal has this or not. The stuff I heard was singing - singing loudly, but singing..mostly with a great sounding voice, vocal range, etc.)

Sorry about going on so much there, I just wanted to articulate the best I could. Also feel free to correct me anybody if I've mislabeled anything or misused any word.

Wow...that's really specific. :)

You know what...I'll check on it for you. I don't know if I'll come up with anything, though, because the sub-genre is a little obscure but...you may never know.

Thanks. Yes, it is specific. Thank you very much for reading my post, though, and for checking it out. I'm still looking, too, myself.

Well, I think I found sonething that may interest you. I know it's not quite neo-classical metal, but it is in the making of an up-and-coming metal (some may classify this band as a rock band, but they recently was added to some online metal radio) band from near my hometown. They are called 10 Years and they are a fairly new band (their debut CD was released in the summer of 2005) but their hit single "Wasteland" has been a forerunner for top of the Modern Rock boards for weeks on end. Check them out and let me know what you think of them. Here's their audio player's link:

Some of their lyrics are very confusing, though, so listen to them out of context.

Hope that helps! :)

I'm not sure EXACTLY of what you're looking for... but, try Visual Cliff or America Gomorrah. They're both prog-metal bands that I really enjoy. Some of their stuff is instrumental, some of it is not. The songs that have lyrics are fairly simple and God-oriented. Nothing "cryptic" about them.

Also, if you can stand it, try The Showdown. Heavy metal at it's heaviest (and southern...est?), and with a pretty solid Old Testament basis for their CD "A Chorus of Obliteration."

Also, if you can stand them, try listening to The Showdown. Heavy metal at its absolute heaviest, but also at its finest (in my opinion). Their one and only CD, "A Chorus of Obliteration" has a lot of songs in reference to the Old Testament, and others about simply standing strong against Satan. Another one of my favorites, you should try them out.

Well, if you can't find anything you like, now would be a good time to start a band playing that sound!
