HIM is about as Christian as Iron Maiden.

They seem pretty outright satanic to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that star they've turned into a heart a pentagram? I've also heard and read in various places on different occasions that their name means "His Infernal Majesty". Mind you, that is what I've read and heard, though I'm sure there is some way you could find out [whether they are into satanism or not] officially. Now, I don't know very many people, most certainly people who like that band, but from my observations it seems that the previously mentioned acronym definition is commonly known. Even if they aren't practicing satanism, just playing with the idea, [for whatever the reasons might be,] is reason enough for me to stay away from the band.

I'm glad you claim not to know anything (about this). "Satanism" is this dumb little term Christians throw around at any and every demonicly influenced occult/religion when it is actually very rare that any group worships Satan himself. I could go on about this, but I won't.

That aside, the "heartagram" as people have come to call it just shows an abundance of ignorance. It's not even a bloody pentagram. It's a Star of David, or, a - turned into a little heart thing. It's ridiculously sad in my opinion when people can't even recognize the difference between the two...really.

Sorry if I came across that way - I am not usually one to use that term loosely. I am the kind of person who likes to know the ultimate truth and origin behind anything, and am mostly annoyed by hearsay. I apologize for replying without first completely looking into it. I was mainly stating how I feel about the band. I didn't state that they are satanists, I just said they seem satanic to me. Even if it's for shock value, why permeate your mind with such things? [I hope no one takes this the wrong way or gets on my case, but in a way, every non-Christian could be considered a "satan worshipper".]

I will look into the whole thing further, though I do not agree about the pentagram being the Star of David.

It is a fairly obvious assumption that most bands accused of practicing satanism really aren't, though none of us humans can judge precicely what goes on within the depths of one's entire being.

I apologize if this is a bit nonsensical, it is late and I have been awake too long, I'm very tired.

Deja Vu, didn't you do this with Led Zeppelin? Even if they are, im not and I don't care, I just like the music not satan. Get some sleep.

The Heartagram is a fusion of:
A Heart| Representing 'love'
and a Pentagram| Representing 'evil'

Star of David -

Pentagram -

http://img457.imageshack.us/img457/4877/pentagram8wp.jpg

Now if they meant it to be a pentagram, they did a pretty crappy job. The only difference between the "heartagram" and the Mogen (Star of David) is that one triangle is a heart. It's not even similar to a pentagram, really, other than being a star made out of some sort of set of lines. I'm not sure who came out with this symbol first, but I think it's insane if they really passed it off as a pentagram when it's so obviously not.

^^^ I'm not talking about what people may view it as, but it actually is. It bothers me the ingnorance required to call a fun, whacked out pentagram that merges love and evil...bleh.

Possibly, though I still consider the proportions closer to the Mogen. It's ridiculous that it's even close (to the mogen)...

.... They are dramatic as all get out but every now and them I dig their first cd. They are no worse than Alkaline Trio. I've ehard member of HIm call it a heartogram in interviews and with songs like sweet666 its not up for debate on their stance.

it'd be hard for me to believe that HIM has any Christian members especially with songs like sweet666...ntm the "heartagram" and the name of the band itself..."His Infernal Majesty" just doesn't say "I'm a Christian" to me...
