How do I get a picture in the text without having it as an attachment.

You have to use [ img ]www.blah.com/blah.jpg[ /img ]

Minus the spaces between the brackets

just try not to post too many pictures that are bigger than the page borders. it stretches things out and makes it annoying to read (check out Greg's Utah post (http://www.panheads.org/boards/showpost.php?p=246438&postcount=1) for a classic example).
