Okay, so one day Taiwan will probablly be invaded and the US will try and stop it, thereby causing World War III, my only question is, WHY? Taiwan has been a free country for almost 60 years, why make such a large fuss over it? I've watched Taiwan the last five years or so and the situation is getting heated up. So, I don't know. So, does anyone think World War III will result out of this?

For those of you who don't know anything about Taiwan, read here please:

Why do we even care about Taiwan? It's an island that doesn't matter that much, it's not worth going to war over. :\

The US is actually on the side of Taiwan in their break from China last I heard. Last year China had warned the US government not to become involved with the situation that was stirring between the two countries when the US was starting to involve itself with Tiawan's freedom from China.

*shrugs* I hope we remain watchers in this situation and see what they do. This isn't the United States' problem.

Exactly, it's not our place to care or spend our own countries lives. For them, you fight the power, but we should stay out of foreign affairs...

How so?

How so?

Japan started building their empire way before 1941 and the US said it wasn't their problem, then Pearl Harbor happened. You never know what is going to happen, but one way or another the US will probably become involved.

Do you think it's the wisest idea to start getting involved with that at the present time, since we're already involved pretty heavily in Iraq? (I also think Iran (or North Korea) is a more pressing matter than Taiwan.)

If only the UN did its job . . . or ever did their job . . .

If only we enabled the UN to do its job...or ever enabled them.

Uh huh, name one good thing the UN has ever done. Since it was established there has been 90+ genocides and wars, and you can't blame that all on the US.
