exactly! all the reviews Ive read they have said that fallingup is totally original. Nobody sounds like them. Of course you can take influences but you have to name at least 4 bands to get them. It took me awhile to like em cause they were different. But thats cool if you dont like em. check out a review at www.melodic.net and find them in artists of the week. That review says it all.

i've only heard thier current single on air1. and i can't remember how it went right now. i remember thinking it was...ok...not horrible. but not my fav either. *shrugs* maybe it'll grow on me.
and yeah, i don't dig too many chick singer's either. simply because a lot [not all] don't experiment with their ranges. they stick to their chest voice to get that pop sound. which sounds good on some voices and not so good with others.
um yeah...so falling up...

Fallin Up is a great band, I know them. The other day, the 24th of February. I went to a little get together and hung out with the band as did other people. It was for their debut album Crashings. It was a lot of fun.

I think they're an AWESOME band. The more, the merrier, I say. I saw them on an advertisement w/ Kutless in the last CCM magazine, and I was curious to see how they sounded. I listened to Bittersweet and Broken Heartbeat, and I really liked their stuff. So I ordered their cd yesterday.
I know there are losts of christian artists we don't like (Plus One, Jump 5, *or who ever else), I know for one there's christian bands I think are really not that good. But still, I'm proud they're Christian, because maybe one of their songs say something to someone's heart that no Preacher or anyone else could say.
It's good to have different tastes in music. :)

looks like the boys are working on a new CD....
Currently, Falling Up is finishing up a brand new track that will be featured on the upcoming X-2005 disc. The album will also include songs from TFK, Pillar, Toby Mac, Relient K, Seventh Day Slumber, Hawk Nelson, Switchfoot, KJ-52 and more and is scheduled for release on March 29th, 2005. Taking advantage of some down time this past Christmas, the boys have already begun writing for their sophomore record. The band will re-enter the studio with famed producer Aaron Sprinkle in April. No doubt, Sprinkle will contribute the artistic innovation that helped make Crashings such a smash. This spring they will join the upcoming X-2005 Tour, which kicks off February 16 and runs until March 20th and will also feature labelmates Hawk Nelson, Seventh Day Slumber, and KJ-52. You can catch them currently on their first headlining run called “The Little Green Tour” with openers Subseven.

Do I really need to say anymore? Their sound is just digested and regurgitated from other, better bands. The lyrics quoted in this thread are totally non-sensical; just a bunch of abstract statements with no theme to tie them together. I take it back, some of those statements aren't absract; abstractions have meaning behind them.

"Falling Up:We wanted to make Crashings, as well as our next cd, something that has a little bit of a mystery to it. We didn't want to give ourselves away so fast. We want listeners to use there head. On all of the songs there is a key subject that is the dominant idea of the song. But within each there is a lot of other sub groups that connect to other songs and also connect the song to the whole idea of the album in general. We just wanted our cd to be something people can find something new in every time they listen to it and read the lyrics."
Perhaps you should dig a little deeper instead of basing your attack on a part of one song. Notice how and entire song is written from a small verse. Without even using the same words. Look into how their songs tie in with the album art (for Dawn Escapes that is). Just because you don't see the meaning behind it right away doesnt mean it's uncreative. That's what mystery is for.

Who's attacking what? I'm giving my opinion. You asked why I said they suck, I answered. It's not my fault if you don't like my answer.
I didn't say it was "uncreative"; I said it was a bunch of random abstractions with no meaning behind them. Bring all the band quotes you want, call it mysterious, that's not gonna change my mind. The only thing you're going to convince me of is that they are trying very hard to be deep and philosophical when they aren't. I happen to love good abstract lyrics, which those aren't.
And for the record, there are THREE other threads about Falling Up.

i could only find two (there were two others, but they were locked before they could get off the ground, due to being duplicates. No, i don't know why they were locked instead of merged.), so if you can direct me to the third, i'll stick that one in here as well.
And Kari, you can search for threads using the Search feature on the upper right corner of the boards. :)

Anyone heard their new song "To This Ice Cave"?. It's a redo of "Exit Calypson (Only In My Dreams)" but it's pretty neat. There's a lot of new synths.
Oh yeah it's on their myspace.

Anyone heard it yet?
I think it's amazing. Just hearing it. How much Jessy's voice has matured. From Escalates to Moonlit to the new song Islander. I love it.

I ordered it through Musichristian.com the other day and I love it so much. They did a really good job with all the songs. My absolute favorite song is Fearless (250 and Dark Stars). It's AMAZING! The piano in the beginning is beautiful and his voice along with it is so smooth and graceful. I wish they had just left the song with him and the piano instead of adding the part with that girl (Troma) and the guy from TFK. Oh well. It's still a really awesome song.
So I really enjoyed the cd. However, if you've never heard Falling Up before, I'd suggest checking out "Dawn Escapes" to really hear Falling Up. This remix is just a nice one to add to the collection.

Got the album yesterday, Okay for a remix cd.
I think the song "Fearless" (205 And Dark Stars) Is a beautiful song . . untill the female vocalist comes in. . .
When she leaves It's beautiful again. :P
If she wasn't in it it might be my favorite Falling Up song.

Fearless is good. It's almost got a Backstreet Boys tone to it. Nothin wrong with that though.
I really like Exhibition with Rachel Lampa. Her voice is beautiful in that song.

Can someone explain to me how that song passed inspection like that? I mean, it's so unpleasing to the ear. It's just such an... unsmooth transistion when the girl starts singing. Sheesh.

It would have been so much better if Jesse kept singing.

"unsmooth transistion" perfectly describes it. I don't mind having other people sing like Trevor and that rapper you can faintly hear. But her voice just doesnt match at all.

All I've heard so far is Moonlit and Exhibition. It's alright I guess, but I'm not big on remixes. Sadly, the only remix album I've ever really enjoyed was Linkin Park's, and I don't like them anymore.
