after re-listening to it tonight with this thread in mind, i heard the words "you can be". before i heard "look at me" but that didn't fit. i'm thinking it's "you can be" more & more now.

Hey I know the chorus for Forsaken: "Why do i have to beg? when all that's left is a memory forsaken!" but i dont understand what it means. I'm sure someone on this board can help me out! lol. L8er nn/
i emailed skillet about it, and ben said that it was about a christian who forgets everything, forsakes them. at first i thought it was about a girl ;D.

i thought he was saying why do i sit hear now and beg when 'i remember growing madly in love with you...'. like he used to be able to feel god and communed with him regularly, but now he's lost touch and just begs. i can't remember exactly why, but i formed this opinion after reading the ccmbuzz interview. not positive i'm right though.

that's about what i've gotten from the song. it's about a guy who's left God & instead of tasting Him like he was, all he has left is a memory he's forsaken. he can beg & plead all he wants for more, but until he truly lets God come to Him again, all He will have is the forsaken memory.

Well, personally, I think it was a best friend kinda song. I mean like the part "we must hold on to our faith in each other". Like, to not forget each other, and try to remain strong in friendship. *shrugs* :-

I've always heard it as "You're Breaking Me"
I agree with those who said "You can be".

Im a singer/songwriter, from a lyrical standpoint, "break me, your breaking me" makes more sense then "you can be." It just makes more sense and goes along with what the song is talking about. Think about it. ;)

i agree. i really do. but the part of the song that we're referring to is just before where he does say that. it could be "you break me," but "break me" is too short & "you're breaking me" is too long (imo).
