What part of our history together makes you think I'm capable of that?

01-24-2007, 04:48 AM
Zoolander didn't need Wilson.

01-24-2007, 06:25 AM
I would have to politely disagree with you here. Most of the time, Owen Wilson has basically played a similarly quirky, yet slightly idiotic character (or a cowboy) for the majority of these movies - some of which are abysmal. Case in point: Armageddon, The Big Bounce, Wedding Crashers.

Plus, movies such as The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Meet the Parents, and Zoolander had more important characters to focus upon. I give credit for a nice screenplay with The Royal Tenenbaums though, but I don't think he should be classified as one of the best actors.

That award could be awarded to people like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey, Gene Hackman or Paul Giamatti. You know, people who can act, and act beautifully, and have been given awards for their work.

Night at the Museum lacked substance. It had a really shallow plot, overall inconsistencies, and lots of poor acting. The worst of Van Dyke I have seen in a long time.

And I agree with Riz somewhat. Owen played lots of lame parts.

01-24-2007, 06:28 PM
i personally haven't found that i like any movies with Owen Wilson, save Cars and Night the sorry Seth, but i have to disagree...

01-24-2007, 07:31 PM
I don't think he's the most amazing actor ... he's never really stood out to me. ;)

01-24-2007, 08:55 PM
Repent all ye sinners!

01-24-2007, 10:18 PM
Ah well, I think Owen Wilson and his movies are good. I wouldnt say he is "the best actor eva!" but I enjoy his movies and his roles and how he plays those roles.

The only movie I really like with Owen Wilson in it was I Spy....But I haven't seen a lot of his...He definitly would not be on my best actor list.
Now, if you wanna talk about Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, or Orlando Bloom, I'm all for it.

01-25-2007, 02:26 PM
I know Wedding Crashers is a pretty low movie, content .. BUT. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I personally find most of his movies awesome (even if I can't really watch them outside of college lol). I wouldn't call him one of the "greats" though.

01-25-2007, 05:30 PM
I could name many actors I like better than Owen Wilson.

01-25-2007, 05:35 PM
Poor taste, yikes.

dawn of light
01-25-2007, 05:40 PM
Yes, you have poor taste I'm sorry to say. :P

01-25-2007, 05:54 PM
Haha, I meant you lot ;)

01-25-2007, 06:03 PM
ha. I know.

01-25-2007, 06:20 PM
So I'm repelling down
Mount Vesuvius...
when suddenly I slip
and I start to fall.
I mean, I'm about to die.
Hot bread, Zeke.

Just falling...
I'll never forget the terror.
When suddenly I remember,
"Holy &&&&. Hansel...
haven't you been smoking peyote
for six straight days?
And couldn't some of this,
maybe, be in your mind??'

It was. I was totally fine.
I've never even been
to Mount Vesuvius.

Cool story, Hansel.

Thanks, Olaf.

01-25-2007, 06:22 PM
wow, that's crazy... *hahaha*

01-25-2007, 06:51 PM
I think hes one of the funnier actors... but best... nahh he has to be able to do more than just funny to be the "BEST""

01-25-2007, 08:23 PM

01-26-2007, 04:52 AM
Okay. I am giving him kudos for this piece of dialogue from The Royal Tenenbaums, which I found to be hilarious. Too bad he's only reading from a book.

"The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sage thicket. 'Vámonos, amigos,' he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintcraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight."

01-27-2007, 07:10 PM
Hmm,I loved him in Starsky but I don't think I'd say he's the best either. He's hot, but that's almost it...

01-29-2007, 08:04 PM
Okay, so what ISN'T Owen Wilson great in? Tell me WHY he isn't great, and cite examples. He rocks more than you guys know, obviously. BLIND I tell ya, BLIND

01-29-2007, 08:39 PM
Zoolander didn't need Wilson.

That's the worst thing I've ever read. Wilson owned in Zoolander. He added. If he wasn't in it, where would Zoolander have been? Not where it is now. It would be a different movie. A worse movie.

01-30-2007, 05:50 AM
A worse movie.

I'm not entirely sure that's possible.

01-30-2007, 06:09 AM
I guess he's great in trying to play just about the same, two-dimensional character in just about every single movie he's in. Strap a cowboy hat on him and he's got a part.

Armageddon was pretty much full of crap. You, Me, and Dupree. The Big Bounce. No one could be great in these films; they have no redeeming qualities. Owen Wilson did not broaden his range with these parts; plus, he is completely forgettable in them. I just about forgot that he was even in Armageddon before I starting pondering on movies he's been in.

01-30-2007, 07:58 AM
He's quite versatile though. He's played a ton of different roles.

And Tromos? Bleh, Zoolander is one of my favorite movies.

01-30-2007, 09:16 AM
And Tromos? Bleh, Zoolander is one of my favorite movies.

Fair enough. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of mine, but I recognize that there is no real artistic value anywhere in that one either :P

01-30-2007, 12:02 PM
:P That one tops Zoolander quite readily! I can still quote most of it.. at one time i could do it all

01-31-2007, 01:22 PM
"I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot." - Hansel, Zoolander.

"I'm, like, 98% excited, and maybe 2% scared. Or maybe it's backwards. Maybe I'm 98% scared, and, like, 2% excited. But that's what makes it so great... I'm so confused!" - Oscar, Armageddon.

01-31-2007, 05:36 PM
I guess I fail to see the relevance.

He read the script.

01-31-2007, 09:18 PM
And made the colossal error of being in such a ridiculous and horrendous movie.

01-31-2007, 09:45 PM
Armageddon SUCKED.

He delivered the lines pretty swell-ly though
