I don't know if any of you have heard of Matisyahu before, he's a jewish reggae artist and he's really good. I'm not much for that genre, but Matisyahu is different in my opinion. You can check him out on his Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/matisyahu). You can watch his music video to my my favorite song Youth here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHdQX0jPvNg).

Not just Jewish, but he's an Hasidic Jew, meaning he does not cut his ear-locks (hence the funky hair), follows rules of dress, and other rules. For example, Matisyahu will not accept a slip of paper from a female so he can sign it. They must pass it to a non-Hasidic male who then passes it along to him, then back again. Their rules of modesty are very strict.

Which makes Matisyahu an awesome anomaly.

While his lifestyle seems outlandish, I like his lyrics, and music.

He was on a few Bollywodd movies too. I heard some of his songs in the background of 'Bride & Prejudice'

Yep, Hasidic Judaism interests me. But I'm not converting to it, don't worry. =P

Yes, it is. I took the picture at a Disciple concert, the clock was on top of Joey's amp . . . but that's some useless background knowledge for you.

You should check out Chaim Potok's books then, specifically "The Chosen." Very enlightening concerning Hasidic Judaism. "I Am Asher Lev" and "The Gift of Asher Lev" are also great (two of my favorites novels, ever).

Yeah, I'll definitely have to check those books out. I'm interested in learning Hebrew. Hopefully that won't be a failed endeavor.

*shrug* It's not as if i asked him that personally. It was info passed onto me by a friend. If it's wrong, it's wrong.
