Does anyone know how to shoot a rifle? Any martial art style? What experience do you have with a bow and arrow? Do you hunt? Wrestle?

These are all designed to eliminate the opponent, neutralize the threat, or accurately engage a target for destruction.

What are/were you into, if anything?

I am really poor at aiming a rifle or bow. I don't really hunt for this reason. I am decent at Airsoft, though.

I am going to be tested for the yellow belt in Hapkido this coming Monday.

I have been shooting firearms since I was old enough to hold a gun. I am also a hunter.

However my favorite sport is archery which i am into big time. I even used to shoot competitive archery and did pretty good if i say so myself. I have a whole box of trophies and awards around here somewhere that i won back then. Now i just shoot for fun and of course to hunt.

If you are interested in archery the best advice i can give you is to make sure your equipment fits you...shooting the proper draw length and poundage will go a long way in success in the sport.

Here is a pic of my current rig...it is a sweet shooter.

I like both guns and bows. I've been going to some camps where I get to shoot arrows quite a bit, but no hunting. I also got to shoot a couple rifles from the 1800s (I think?) and they were sweet. Major kick did they have. I also like paintball. Its pretty awesome.

I've been shooting guns since I was little, though I rarely do anymore. Living out in the middle of nowhere has benefits like that I guess.

As far as bows, I'm highly interested in perfecting my longbow skills. I'm not really into modern weaponry. I don't really care for modern bows or composite bows. Longbows are a much more skilled weapon to use.

I do have hand to hand combat experience, but I spent most of my time training in weaponry. I've trained in Shinkendo along with other types of swordplay including both Asian and European styles of swords. I also took time to learn other weapons while I was training, but most of my time was with sword.

I've actually been looking to find a good fencing class where I can learn to properly fight with a rapier. It's a completely different style of sword fighting that requires more dexterity and quickness. Unfortunately, time is an issue, as is availability of a good teacher. :(

I've shot firearms plenty of times whether it be at a target range or just at small targets. I hunt (when I'm not too lazy to wake up on Saturday mornings) and I also own a compound bow.

I know how to shoot a rifle[military issue included] and most hand guns.

as for the others, I've never tried using a bow and arrow, I don't hunt, and I'm not into martial arts, tho when my brother starts taking them, i'm gonna make him teach me some stuff....

I have a bow, use it in the Summer sometimes. I went hunting once with it...no luck. But it's cool to use for targets and stuff.

Awesome! Congratulations. I'm sure you could kick my butt. Can you please refresh my knowledge on how the belt system works, I honestly have no clue except I know that black is as high as you can go.

yay for history lessons!

in ancient japan or whereever... you started out as a white belt, and you wore the belt everywhere, and it got covered in whatnot: red, , obviouslly, green a nice grass stain, brown, dirty ish, and finally it got so covered that it turned black, resulting in knowledge and whatnot. you could never wash your belt, because then it would turn white again and you'd loose all your knowledge.

fast foward a couple thousand years. now a days, they just give you different colored belts. i dont know how it works in other places, but in mine it goes white, orange, orange-yellow, yellow, blue, blue-green, green, green-purple, purple, red, red-brown, brown, brown-black, and finally black, with different degrees in black belt. in mine, there is (usually) three months in between belts, so it takes three years to get your black belt.

that is how it works here, again, i have no idea how it works anywhere else.:lick:

Don't you have to register you hands with the state as "dangerous weapons" once you get a black belt? How awesome of a pick-up line would that be?

"Hey, see these hands? They're dangerous weapons."

But at my university, we only focus on the solid colours, I think.

For example, I didn't get a yellow stripe before I got my yellow belt. Further, according to the site we would write papers. We didn't do that at all.

i just thought Stephani made a fair statement...i think there should be a pink belt too (don't care so much for the sparkly part)...how'd did they decide on the colours used anyways?

No, weebird must've tainted stephanie or vice versa. Pink is evil. We have a thread for that if you want to debate it. For this thread, it will be assumed that pink is wrong.

People's skill used to be recognized by how dirty their belts were. When someone was new, his belt was white. To wash your belt was considered bad luck. Thus higher ranks had a darker belt. Now the yellow, brown and black make sense, eh?

No tainting here.
The other day i was arguing with my bro. how there should be a pink belt and he was freaking out about it. :D And then there was this thread...And I felt that it must be said.

Do you have belts in Jujitsu?[ok, i know i spelled that wrong]

But wouldn't your belt only turn yellow if you urinated on it? :P I sense some cheating occured with that. :)

Lightsaber fighting style? One problem with that: the force lets you do things that karate and gymnastics wouldn't let you do combined. And you should check out Belegarth sometime. Its sweet. I should post some pics of the weps we have made so far sometime.
