i need help....there's this new Family Worker that has just started working with me (im a youth worker), thing is shes isnt a Christian as she finds it hard to understand that there is only one way to God and that is through believing that Jesus was sent to earth, died for out sins and rose again, giving us the gift of eternal life. I was talking to her this morning about what she wants to do with the families involved in our project and she wants to introduce them to different cultures and religions. She asked how i felt about the different religions and i told her that i think that the only true religion is Christianity and that those people who believe in good works, paying tribute to various gods and stuff are wrong in Gods eyes.

She said that i need to be more open minded and asked how do i know that my Christianity is true.

I just want advice on what to say to her next time this subject comes up.... :-

Tell her these aren't your words, these are Jesus' words.

He said I am the Way the Truth and the Life, No man comes unto the Father BUT by me.

End of story.
She prolly won't accept that tho.

Ask her if she's 'Open Minded' enough to consider Christianity?

Oh and I think that's why My Pastor doesn't want Non-Christians working in our Youth Outreach. We're trying to reach them with the Gospel, not Evolution or Buddhism or wotever.

OOOOKaaaay. weebird, what planet is that girl from. Ask her to get a grip or get lost. Helping ppl without God in it, is a sure way to get ppl to hell and let them enjoy the ride there.

Tell her that you won't stand for multi cultural waffle. Say that is what your culture is. aNY CULTURE is acceptable, BUT ONLY 1 gOD, jESUS cHRIST!

Not all paths lead to God. The God of Christianity says that he is the only way. Therefore cancelling out the saying that all paths leads to God. What waffle.

"There is a path that looks right to a man, but the end of it is death." - Solomon

Maybe she's from the planet 'Politically Correct'

Correction

With the relevant possibility that a mammal of non specified gender exists on a non specified world of non specified size with the given name of 'Politically Correct'

Little bit too much caps Lock there Xon... LOL dnt worry tho I know wot u mean.

God is not a little piece of this religion and a little piece of that religion. God was revealed in Jesus Christ. He who has seen Christ has seen the Father he who knows Christ knows the Father.

weebird-I would explain to her that christianity isn't about following a set of religous rules and regulations. It is about a relationship with Jesus. And yes the bible says "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." And also no other "religion" makes the claims of who Christ is other than Chirstianity. No other "religion" teaches the Christ of the bible. Being He is the son of the Living God, who came as a babe, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, rose again, and is alive. And that through His death we can come to God and be forgiven and spend eternity with God. But also that other religions call Him a profit, a teacher, a good man, but not the Son of God. If you can point out the differences between christianity and other religions she may be more apt to listen. And tell her that your not closed minded but that you have found the truth. Those who say "your close minded" are either close minded themselves and don't like that you don't agree with them. How does "introducing cultures and religions" have any relivance to what you are doing as a youth worker? If she persists on doing this she needs to understand that as a christian while it is ok to tell others that in certain cultures they follow such and such religion; it's not ok to teach about the beliefs and practices of each religion. If she refuses to understand that because of your "religous beliefs" you wont jump on the politically correct bandwagon then you two should find another project to work on with the families. If there still is no agreement I would suggest leaving the project and becoming involved in a "christian ministry".

i agree with skilletosis. Christianity isn't about a religion. there are millions of relgions in the world, but only one true relationship with God.

you could also tell her about the Law of Non-contradiction. it basically says that if one person says something is true & anothers says something else is true, only one of them can be right. really a no brainer law. :)

but how it works here is that Christianity says that there is only one way to get to God, through the person of Jesus Christ. other religions say different ways (tithing, praying so many times a day, doing so many things, whatever...). so both can't be right. if she is searching which one she believes in, that's one thing (& you can help point her in the right direction. ;) ) but if she's teaching her kids that all of those religions are fact, then she is teaching them a bunch of lies with one piece of truth buried in them. it's like eating a thanksgiving turkey made up of nearly all fat, grisle & bone, but with one bite of nice juicy meat. you'd give up before you'd ever find that nice meat.

thanx guys what you've said will really help ;D

don't know if i was very clear about this so i say it again.....

The family worker (her names Shirley) told me she wants to show that ppl from different cultures and religions are not different and should be accepted. I think shes talking about tolerance here, but i don't think she needs to go into their religions to do this :-

Going back to what skilletosis and unshakeable were saying...Isn't the Jesus of Christian beliefes the only God who died for His people to save them? I think that's right...You can bring that up and it might help...
