Invincible was their techno album. Alien Youth was Industrial.Wait, what's the difference between techno and industrail ??? But, I like plain rock the most, like Collide. The aggressive guitar based music is THE best for me. 8)

This is probably one of the most Skillet "oops" remarks made. Skillet was never techno. Not in HYILYS, not in Invincible, not in AY... never. They were a side product of industrial and the only reason they were even considered industrial was their heavy use of synths, but it was never fully Industrial. If you wanna hear techno, all you have to do is go to your local arcade and watch those little 13 y/o kids playing on those DDR machines.

On topic, I love techno. Everything from Drum and Bass to Trance. My favorite has to be DJ Mystic, but my taste goes to everything from EuroTechno to Greek and Asian. Another one of my fav techno artists is Lee Jung Hyun; a Korean girl who is actually gaining a lot of popularity in the US. Who can also forget people like DJ Vasco (Greek) and the most popular, Paul Oakenfold who I got to see at Gatecrasher, the biggest rave in the world.

Can't say I do..

Here is a good question that might boggle your mind a bit... What are yoru views between Xian Techno and Secular Techno, seeing as it doesn't have lyrics usually. ;)

I bought a few rave cds at one point and one of the church people were nagging me cause it wasn't Xian.. I was like, "Dude, it doesn't even have words..."

LOL! Strange how people never say stuff like that about classical music...

skynes
02-03-2004, 09:08 AM
music conveys something whether there is lyrics or not. I remember the Planets (classical) I had to listen to em when I did music.

One of them Jupiter was composed to convey power and size. Mars conveyed war. So even if there's no lyrics the artist is still trying to convey something.

True, but I mean the whole Xian/Secular argument. There is really no boundry for techno music (excluding songs with actual words in them) that can say whether it is Xian or not.

In all music you can promote a kind of feeling as to what is going on. Like in movies how when you are coming into a dangerous part, the music is usually more dark sounding, as opposed to a light "bubbly" music that you might hear running through a field of flowers...

BTW, I remember 2Unlimited now, I have a few of their songs on some old Techno CDs... forgot completely about em. ;)

Usually, not always, usually I can tell if a band is Christian just by the way I feel about it. If it doesn't feel right (like the way Slipknot did the first time I heard them, didnt know nefing bout them then) then I know its not good.

Probably just a case for discernment.

I don't believe she has her own webpage, and if she did, it probably wouldn't be in english. ;)

Best thing to do is type in her name on Yahoo and a whole bunch of links come up.

I have a weakness for techno. I really liked the techno-rock album by skillet. I actually think I perfer the techno rock and techno pop to the regular rock and pop...
The beat gives it a new vigure and makes it danceable!
I have so often tried to dance to skillet's "Hey you I love your soul" CD ("things are coming down" is an excellent song for doing ballet exercises) But with Invicible, I had a hard time controling myself...
But if a choreography were to be made for the music, it would be exteremely difficult.

like terrasin said though, skillet was never really techno. hylys was lke electro-pop-rock and invincible was electro-pop-rock once again with an edge of techno. that was an interesting sounding album. i've never heard that style of keyboard music before. the drum beats r really unique. anyways, alien youth was kinda industrial, but not completly, it still had a strong pop element to it.

but anywho... i performed a little techno song for the middle school youth group last night. it was quite fun. i had them clapping and stuff but i don't think they really ever listened to music like that before. hahaha.

if you wanna listen to some techno music try searching radio stations on windows media. that's where i found a lot of my techno music.

AHHHHHH scooter just came on! *dances w/ scooter*

one other thing, there is a difference between dance and techno. dance tends to be a pop version of techno. techno is more on the edge and kinda out there, and sometimes it seems to be closer to industrial. CJ, is there a better description between dance and techno? it's bugging me, they are different and yet the same. it bugs me cause in abercrombie they play dance music and i don't really like it, but i like the cool edge of techno and it's computer generated feel.

Heh, dance music... for something like that, it usually has a full set of lyrics like a regular song does. If you listen to a techno cd vs a dance cd, you will be able to tell the difference.

Just the dance music is easier. To the techno, you have to be an amazing dancer, with amazing technique, excelent beat, and very strong to really dance well...

And then agian, skillet's song "things are coming down" isn't ment for doing "pliés" "degagés" and "devlopées" but is perfect for them.

I definitely do love techno, but haven't found too many artists.
Paul Van Dyk (Trance/Electronica)
Thievery Corporation (Trip Hop -- the best version of Techno)
Expansion Union (Electronica)
Kraftwerk (Electionica)
DJ Krush (DJK has done lots of stuff, but mostly Trip Hop)

No, Trip Hop has no words unless the specific artist decides to.

Those are all I can remember right now.

gee, did everyone forget Mindbender, early Mortal, among other artists from the christian techno files? how 'bout Eclectica 1+2? I have alot of tech/indo stuff like orbital, paul van dyke, into the mix (compilation discs available at best buy), prodigy (tech industrial), front 242, front line assembly, icon of coil, etc. yeah i got some cool stuff. :afro:

Orbital is awesome. Love them. Prodigy use to be cool, but I heard some of their new songs for the new album and it sucks like a black hole. DJ Mystic is always cool. I'm horridly into techno from foreign countries because they also add a lot of their cultured music into it which gives it a very distinctive sound. Asian techno is usually always fast and higher pitched, though you do have occasional exceptions. Greek techno adds a lot of their old traditional styled music to their techno. Awesome stuff

Yup. At the end of the Blade Movie Soundtrack (the first one) is like a couple electronica songs. There's DJ Krush's "Dig This Vibe," which is an awesome chillin' track. DJ Krush made a sort-of Asian album, if that catches your interest.
