So, John has said that he was really into 80's metal in a couple of the interviews I have read. Does anyone know which bands specifically? Also, I would like to know what you think about 80's rock/hairbands. Do you have any favorite music from the 80's?
One last thing. Are any of you actually old enough to remember the 80's? I was only 5 when they ended, so I can't say as I remember much.

I'm a total 80's child. I remember many bands. As far as christian bands I really was in my prodigal days then. But there was Stryper, Petra, and a punk band called God Rulz.

I think the '80s what a great time to appreciate technical ability, but I'm not into the inspiration. The songs were empty and hallow, totally floored by hype. It was all fake and phony kind of.

Yeah, hair bands definately had a horrible image. I mean, I just got Soldiers Under Command by Stryper, and as great as the music is, those yellow and black outfits are just plain tacky looking. I mean, I would rather be seen in a Pontiac Aztek or Honda Element than those outfits.

Hey now, you get into the good 80s bands like Europe and U2 and they really had awesome messages in their songs. Granted, a lot of songs *coughSafetyDancecough* didn't really have much to say, but there were a lot of em that did. :)
