As much as I love these guys, Evanescence - Bring Me to Life was one of the worst videos I have ever seen.

Men Without Hats-The Safety Dance and 99 Red Balloons by some girl that I can't remember her name.... these were especially bad videos just like the songs... bad bad bad... Pat Benatar had one that was bad can't remember the name of the song...

At least it will work better for a secular crowd. I didn't like some parts of the vid like thw whole playground thing... it just kinda came out of nowhere. Plus the Carosel(sp?) was way out of place.

Now how about It's My Life by No Doubt? Not only was the music awful, but the video was stupid. For those of you that are fortunate to not know the name of the song, it's that one where she kills those guys and is on the witness stand and in an orange jumpsuit at various points in the video.

The Darkness... I heard a lot about them in Revolver magazine but was completley put off by the look of the lead singer. I mean... it's worse than David Lee Roth and Steven Tyler put into one. The first time I heard the song on the radio I really didn't like it. But I heard it last night and you know... for as much as I'd love to hate it... it's SUCH feel-good music and I can't not enjoy it. But I have not seen the video.

I guess you could say im neutral, or slightly on fire-insides side. Don't just keep as will put it "beating a dead horse". Don't keep throwing off on BS , because you know she has fans, and you would offend them, and as Christians we shouldn't offend.

And yes, Steven Tyler is quite scary.

I've got a 13 year old sister, of coarse I've heard Britney Spears. Her stuff is "catchy", that doesn't make it good. It doesn't cause me to do anything but to put the song on repeat. Did it make me want to change my life or anything? No, and that's all the record producers and songwriters care about, is writing songs that sell, not songs that are griping or moving at all. Did you know that most of the tracks recorded for her albums are all done from a midi-controller? It's almost completely digital. Now any true musician who has a desire for purely making good music knows that analog has the best tone, and reaches the subconcious ear better because of it's character. Yes a lot of albums are recorded onto digital interfaces, but usually their sources are from analog signals.
So who knows what now?

Listen pal, when it comes to something like Britney Spears I don't really care if they had a computer or a monkey making the guitar sounds. I listen to it to have fun and that's all I care about. When I want my 'subconcious ear' to be 'touched tonally' I'm not gonna pop in Britney Spears. I'm not looking for grip or being moved emotionally. More power to the MIDI machines.

When I'm seeking character in music, I know which bands to turn to. Don't begin to think that I'm the idiot teeny-bopper who thinks Britney Spears is the be-all, end-all of music. You might think you know... but really, you have no clue.

I finally saw the savior vid.
yeah, it does imply a slightly different message than just 'Jesus saving the sinner'. The vid kinda makes me think that maybe the song was meant to be more ambiguous than I have thought. But I still like Savior and the vid either way.

That Darkness video cracked me up - 80's to the extreme man. I like it. But then again, I really like 80's music - it's my catchy-pointless-but-makes-me-feel-happy music.

Aerosmith 0wnz. I was so happy I got to see em 3rd row back in '99 right when Nine Lives came out. Part of the show was actually recorded and put on their most recent live album which I was like jumping about. They are total legends.

Pardon me for interjecting here...but...some of Manson's videos are the most creative videos I have seen. Even if he is an "evil guy", you have go at least give him the credit of having some cool music videos. I personally liked mOBSCENE. Pretty spiffy.

I almost hate to say it, but I agree with Garth. Yeah yeah, Marilyn Manson is a bad influence and a big evil character... definitely. But I think he deserves some credit for not only incredibly creative music, but also for incredibly INCREDIBLE music.
