their first CD had Creed intones in the sound of the lead singer, mostly, but backed-up in their overall sound as well.

their new CD, however, is much different. :) if it was similar to Creed again, i would have personally stayed away from it. but Sea of Faces sounds really good. i'll have to add it to my ever-growing-never-shrinking list of CDs i need to get.

they are definetly not the next creed, for one thier better, and second they praise God in thier songs, and third none of their lyrics are even close to being contraversial, and fourth they are under a christian recording name unlike creed was i believe!

i saw them in concert and they did 2 of there new songs this way before there new cd came out.. But when there cd came out it was rocking.. i will tell u there is like 3 fast songs and the rest is more worshipful.. I really do like this cd... Its nice. to have more slow songs.. the slow songs do get a lil upbeat,...

a friend of mine went to two Best Buys & neither had a copy. he had to go to Wal-Mart. anyone else having trouble finding a copy of Sea of Faces?

no, I bought it at a Christian store for like 10 bucks because allot of things were on sale, but 38th Parallel, it took me to the internet to find a copy of there CD, I mean, comeon, it shouldn't be that hard to find it though.

I do like the song Treason. But for the most part I'm just not impressed with these guys. Their first record was totally a Creed ripoff, but this new one, Sea of Faces, is more original. I like it alot more than their first record.

hmmm I don't think they sound anything like creed. The guy from Creed has a very..umm...distinct? voice. Kutless's lyrics are on a much higher spiritual level than any of creed's.

nothin at all, I like short people, becasue most people are shorter than mean, espicailly girls, lol. I am only 6 foot though. And I thought at that concert that they sounded similar to Creed and Lifehouse, but, Big Dismal sounds more like Creed and LH.

Notice "only six foot" lol. I'm a whole 5'2 :) Oh yeah! As for Kutless.... I just don't hear the similarities between them and Creed. However, my opinion may be slightly biased. I fell in love with their self titled album earlier this year. The passion in some of the songs..especially Run.. really got me thinking. I still haven't seen them in concert yet. They are on tour with the ATF this year...... but they didn't play in Tampa a few weeks ago...which saddened me. Although, Delirious was there and they did quite well.

delirious is a good band to see. ;) i've seen kultess 3x in concert. first time at the "Go Show" and the second time at FCD and the third time at the Harvest Crusade. i think they put on a good show.

burned_inside - that is a nice thing about being tall, being able to see over people in a concert. though i'm not 6'...so you have a higher view than i do. i'm 5'7".

The new cd is totally awesome, If you didn't like the first one because u thought all the songs sounded the same you'll love "Sea Of Faces"

Sea of Faces is calmer, but I think in a good way. It's slightly more original- it won't get tagged as a complete Creed ripoff- and the songs I think flow better than the ones on their self titled record. It's not the greatest rock record ever, but I like it somewhat. I'm not gunna buy it =] but it's atleast better than their first.

Ha, they scared me the first time I saw them, I went to the Go Show last year, and it was Mercy Me, Audio A., and them, and they were loud compared to the other two, and thats why I thought they sounded like Creed (NO MORE, don't get me wrong, I don't think that anymore). And ya, I didn't know who they where, and they were the only band that was hard and Christian that I knew of at the time, so they became my starting point of hard music, ya, ok.

Skillet was my first taste of Christian rock...i fell In love with this cd my sister got at creation 2000 it was Invincible...that next christmas my mom spotted AY she knew I liked Skillet so she got it for me. then two days after the release of collide I had it. I spotted skillet(skillet) at a used cd store for like $5 and got it...

IMHO, Kutles's first album is way better than their second.

when i saw them in concert it totally rocked!!! they sound exactly like they do on the cd.... and they do some AWESOME guitar tricks!! James and Ryan takes off their guitars and THROW them across the stage to eachother! and i mean throw.... like a long way. and they do tons of guitar flips and stuff. it was just and awesome concert all together. they played with TFK, FM Static, and Falling Up.

Yep, Strong Tower, There on tour for it, Barlow girl, and Stellar Kart are touring with them, so ya, im lookin forward to it also.

I like kutless even though their songs are soft yet rock he has a good voice and great lyrics makes up for it.

Kutless is harder than Switchfoot... so between those two, i like Kutless better.

Skillet will always be number one though, with TFK comin in right after.
(At least on my list.)

There is this awesome feature with this message boards that's called "search". And it helps if one searches to make sure the thread doesn't already exisit.

like Sarah pointed out, it would help if people used the Search feature at the top of the boards to search for threads on the topic they want to start. that way they don't have to start a thread only to have it merged into an existing one. :)

as for your comment on interesting conversation, well i don't understand what you mean. is sounds like you're saying that the convo dies. that's the because the old thread comes up to the top. what really happens is the newer thread gets merged (combined) with the older thread so as to make one, bigger, thread. so the interesting conversation in the new thread will still be in there, but under the title and link of the old thread. :)

But the real exciting part of the evening was when I got stopped for speeding on the way home from the concert....the officer asked me where we had been and i said a concert.... my wife piped up and said "a Christian concert".... I figured he thought I was setting a good example speeding at 1 am.....after he checked my license and regstration he came back and said..." Sir i am just going to give you a warning this time"....man i could have gave him a hug!...as speeding tixs in this state start at a 115.00 fine.

So all in all it was a good night :)

i really like kutless's distortion on their first cd. especially on the song "tonight" when they play the bridge or w/e riff....it sounds really nice..it's like a smoother overdrive...but it's like a harder overdrive tone...it's really cool

Agreed. The only song I really listen to much on occasion is 'Pride Away'. Kutless makes me sad...they seem like they can rock out so hard, but they just...don't, lol.

i have their first cd. i have to agree with what's been stated already. they're alright.

Yeah their new album, Hearts Of The Innocent, is coming out in March. Im pretty excited for that.

like Tracy, i have their first CD. i like 'em alright, but nothing spectacular. i honestly don't pull out the CD very often.

i was pretty obsessed with Kutless once i heard their albums treason, and Sea of faces but strong tower is way too peaceful for me

Well when I first heard of Kutless it was when I was looking for a Christian comparison to Creed on christianguitar.org. When I got their 1st album, I really believed there was a comparison...until I referred back to all 3 Creed albums and realized there IS a difference. If you know some science and know your music, 2 voices can NEVER sound alike. There will always be a difference. Jon Micah's vocals are softer and has less filling to his voice than Scott Stapp and let's be real--those 2 guitarists on Kutless haven't done not even half the monster stuff like Mark Tremonti (Creed/Alter Bridge). If one thing sets them apart is the vocal difference and the very absence of solos. Tonight does sound a tad bit similar to What If by Creed (still don't know why people are scared to mention the song they sound like) but stil no solo. Creed was Alternative/Hard Rock while Kutles (currently) are post-grunge/Hard Rock/Pop and minimal rapcore.
In Sea Of Faces, the comparisons are gone. The guitarists have a bit more skills reflecting plus they balance the sound equalization of the album (some hard songs some soft).Jon Micah also stands out more vocally with less Stapp-like growling (his growling made him sound more like Vedder frmo Pearl Jam though).
Strong Tower was an album they did goog HOWEVER they seemed to have held themselves back (Take Me In was their song to glow...I'm sure they should know how to do some real lead by now). It was anointed as I liked the album titled song plus their renditions of Draw Me Close, Ready For You, Strong Tower, Jesus Lord Of Heaven and the beautiful and contemplative Arms Of Love.
I read in one of their old news entries that in the development of the new album they would add in guitar solos.....HALELUYAH!!!!! Honestly it's about time because that's what a lot of Christian bands are missing...solos!! Plus this can be the album for Kutless to REALLY shine and define theirselves.

if you think kutless is lame, why do you even look at this thread?

i think kutless is one of the best christian bands out there right now because they are one of the few christian rock bands that reflect the awesome post-grunge sound that i just love out of secular rock. i think they are the best band out of tooth and nail because they are one of the only bands that aren't either heavy metal or emo(or something in in-between those).

Coming into a thread about a band you don't like to flame the band is being a troll. I would ask that you either present a polite reason or two why you don't like them if you are going to post negatively about a band. I am so excited about their new album!!!!!!!! They are so hardcore christian. There lyrics are awesome and covicting and their sound wonderful! THIS is how music should be! =)

I've heard clips from the new album. Sounds a lot like Sea of Faces so far. With the exception of one or two of their songs, Kutless just doesn't hold my interest.

Cant find it right now but there new video for Shut Me out is done. Ill post it when I find because its just that awesome.

i should be getting the cd tomorrow because i pre-ordered it. and you're right about how they don't sound like creed...because they don't anymore...but they used to on their first cd. especially on the song "Tonight." that song sounds ALOT like "What if" by creed on the chorus.

At the end, i heard a band i recognized, and it sounded like either Kutless or someone else (i forgot who i originally thought).

I've been listening to some of their stuff from the new CD and it's pretty good. It's different from their other stuff, but not so different that it would turn fans away.

i talked with a guy from a band, who has played with kutless a few times, and he said that kutless changed drummer and bassits... and the new drum used to play for seven places...

yeah they have a new drummer and bassist and i think both of the members are from seven places....the drummer tho is AWESOME

the original bassist married a girl from my girlfriends school... she went to the wedding. kutless started in a church aobut 20 miles from my house...

and i beleive there was some talk about hear them on scrubs? well its true, they played All of The Words, i think at the end of the ep. the ratings were higher than ever for that show too! i believe it was like 6.7 mill.

That would have been me. :) i watch Scrubs (gotta love it!) and i noticed it. The song fit pretty well, but it was just weird because Kutless is not the sound they usual have for songs they play in the background.

Kutless is not my favorite band, but I don't hate them.

i just watched kutless on the GMA's and they were really good...but the singer's (for some strange reason i just can't think of his name right now) voice sounded really really different. like, i've seen them in concert before and his voice sounded pretty much the same but on this live performance his voice was REALLY different. but otherwise it was a great performance.

I just listend to the new cd last night and it FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!! pick it up if you get chance.
